Lure Making Beginners Minnow | Same Day Build to Catch 🎣

In this lure making tutorial I'm going back to beginnings.
Showing simple lure making with no power tools, no electricity needed. I made the lure from begin till the end in 2 hours and was able to catch several fishes on the same day :)
The fishing rod used: Dragon Nano Spin 15 (1pece, 189cm 4-15g casting weight)
Tools and material list:
Balsa sheet 4mm, stainless still wire 0.5mm, super glue, led shots, black paint, pliers, sharp knive, fine marker pen, cut nail, UV no wipe clear coar(or alternatively 5min epoxy), asorted glitters, material for the lip(lexan policarbonate, fiber glass laminate, CD package, plexiglass), some kind of saw to cut the lip slot.
To make outstanding looking lure and be comfy during the proces you realy need lots of equipment, but to make lure catching fish - bare minimum is enough :)
So start from the basics, develope your own style and than keep improving your craft :)

This is why are such a hot commodity because back in the great depression when fishing first started they had to make their own Lures because I couldn’t afford the ones they had to buy and the ones that were made homemade of the ones that are the most valuable I love parts of history I so love creativity

@@nanglerspinninginchina8727 O that's interesting one 👀 I spend in China total of two month backpacking - caught only one Tilapia around 30cm in private fish pond, and in the wild only small fishes - max 15cm. In the sea on the south few small groupers and sea breams while doing rock fishing... So rather sad place for a fisherman...

Just a tip for anyone that has no exces to polycarbonate or something like that; just use a beer botlle cap you hammered flat and cut it to your desired shape.

@@SuchaJerkCustomLures It's Good for someone that's not sure whether it could become a hobby or not, they can get a taste of what it takes before investing in more tools. I have an electric scroll saw and a table top belt sander so an airbrush would probably do me. I have an air compressor but It's a larger one for bigger air tools so I'd probably need adapters to make a small airbrush work with it. I give up lure fishing years ago because of a back injury but if I end up getting a kayak, I'd be sitting as it hurts when I stand for too long, I end up in agony for a few days 😥

@@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN well so kayak Sims to be a good solution, or perhaps a belly boat 🤔 but that still probably put pressure on the spine... Making them just for sake of doing so doesn't make sense, the real satisfaction is when you catch on your own creation 😊

@@SuchaJerkCustomLures I started watching kayak fishing videos as my friend uses one, then I realised I could fish easier with lures again. I have plenty of free time gaps to make them. My lures I made years ago from mahogany brush shaft handles, swimmers, hard to carve and I didn't know what I was doing at that time 😂 but now I've a better idea thanks to yourself and TreysArt 👍 I's like a kayak because I'd sea fish in it too, I'm 1.5 miles from the coast.

Excellent video(s)! I wanted to share something I learned the other day..... BAKING SODA is a super glue accelerator! Ye! Uh huh! Sure is! And and excellent filler as it make the glue grittier and coarser. It also adds weight, which can be good or bad, just as long as you know. But yes, it speeds dry time up dramatically for CA glue aka super glue!

Thank you for the tip 😉 I do know super glue and baking soda mixture - I don't use it though as a filler - to hard to file compare to the wood filler - so what time you save on the hardening, you'll waste on sanding 😉 with that being said I do use it as a fixer of the internal through wire due to its strength, only leaving small gap from the top to finish it with the wood filler and sand it smoothly 😉

@@damian8mac8 I do not sell my lures - not enough spare time for it, and I don't want it to be my income source - as than it would loose the joy of a hobby 🙂 in terms of being expensive - if you would buy all the materials listed in this wideo - and made yourself 10 lures - same finish but even different lure types made out of balsa - the cost probably would be comparable to the store bought ones (or potentially even cheaper) but of course human nature tells us to improve on your craft and than the list of spending doesn't have an end 😁 so in the end is at least as expensive as fishing itself 😉

@@waterdoglures1352 The first one and the last one is called Asp (Leuciscus aspius), the second one European Chub (Squalius cephalus) and the third one was Ide (Leuciscus idus). They're all European fish species - I'm leaving in Poland 😉

I am a beginning lure maker having trouble getting the bill size right. How far outside of the lure body should a bill extend? If it's rounded bill on a jerkbait, how wide should the rounded part be in relation to the lure? What angle should a square bill sides be, and at what point should the bill stop?

@@khyeabbott9391 yes, we have both 😁 Pike locally in my City (although I'm not so keen on them - as the other species are more readily available) 👌 and for trout I need to travel few hours... In this season I've only caught one brownie 😟 I've seen you leave closer to the mountains now - waiting for trout minnow build to catch episode 👌😉

Спасибо 🙂 размещение, если вес только по опыту или по разным типам приманок, которые я или другие вы, клубни, сделали и стремитесь к аналогичному действию. Количество груза, вы можете приклеить светодиоды разного веса к телу приманки и проверить, плавает она или уже тонет 😉

It's a balsa wood 😉 and indeed is soft and easy to cut - that's why I chose it to show how to make lures for inexperienced lure maker 😉

Scratching through the comments to see how many comments contained the word balsawood. Don't know what to attribute that to. The of use jelutong is a fantastic wood and works as easy as balsa. You ever consider using lead for eyes? And thanks for the video .

I don't thing this yelutong wood is available in Poland 🤔 normally I do the 3D eyes myself from holographic foil and black tape + UV resin - here I did the simple ones as the idea of this tutorial was beginner level lure 😉

You may use baking soda instead of basla wood dust.

I know, however since I already had the balsa wood dust, and the aim of the video was to use as few tools and ingredients (as that's what beginner will have available) I didn't want to add one extra. Aside of that I'm not a fan of using super glue + baking soda to fill the lead holes - especially in balsa - is just to hard and after it doesn't sand even. Always use filler putty instead. The only exception is in my Popper build - where I cover the through wire with it for the strength, and only the surface with putty for smooth and even finish ;)

Grazie :) il prodotto è smalto per unghie UV, la luce UV è necessaria per curarlo, renderlo duro. Lo uso perché mi ha permesso di finire l'esca in un giorno ed è anche più economico e più facilmente disponibile della resina epossidica in 2 parti, quindi migliore per i principianti ;)

Да, это был суперклей, рекомендую для постоянного соединения двух половинок, когда провод вставлен 👌 но для временного соединения двусторонний скотч работает лучше, здесь я использую только SG, так как приманка была сделана с минимумом инструментов и продукты, для начинающих 😉

@@domba8892 the only thing is, thinking about it, I would say it wouldn't have any swimming action 🤔 best you could hope for is flatter on the drop, but while jerking would most likely swim straight (there is no enough surface in the pointy beak to cause water turbulence)

What wire do you use?

Here, since it's a small lure for light tackle 0.5mm stainless steel through wire 😉 as the video shows strong enough 👌 people sometimes are scared of thin wire - but if you'll fish with 7lb leader it's obvious the wire still will be the stronger point 😉

It is glass fiber and epoxy laminate - it is used to create circuit boards 😉

Yes it is balsa wood - because is soft and sand it well I thought would be good choice for beginner level 😉 I myself started making smaller lures from balsa 🙂

Tak, żeby był gotowy tego samego dnia używam tutaj lakieru hybrydowego UV plus latarki UV, teraz już mam taką lampę do paznokci i jest bardziej efektywna 😉

@@SuchaJerkCustomLures too far frome me :) Im from Kaliningrad near with Poland . Łyna river come to us through the border. Chub and ASP is my favorite fishing but ASP is ultra rare here . . .he just ignore all my lures (Jackall , ZipBaits and others). But usually if u get bait from ASP it will be big fish : )

@@Lastlightx94 if you into lure making - try to do 7-9cm WTD lure - it's the biggest fun to get Asp on top water 💦💥 they often miss the target but the bites are very visual 😍

È lungo 5 cm e pesa 4,5 g - quindi lancia molto lontano - progettato per la pesca del tonno mac - ma in acqua dolce è molto buono per aspidi e persici :)
