What a major difference the lowering did for me ergonomically. My.feet are now 100% flat and I no longer have to peg over to get on the bike. The ride is the same. Should have lowered it the first day. The kick stand kit also worked out perfect....I didn't have to alter the stand. Tuner came in today. Going to install by the weekend. Be safe

Im putting the 40mm kit on this weekend and using this video as my guide. Thanks for posting it! Did you leave the rear wheel tight while swapping the plates?

Thanks. How are you addressing your kickstand length. I used a Lust wedge kit. That worked good.

@@ohiobackroads1548 I got the wedge kit as well. will put that on before chain adjustment. did you leave the rear wheel tight during the adjustment plate swapping?

@@fredcannock2694 I had the wheel loose. For the wedge kit I would use some lock tight. I had trouble with the bolts comming loose because the stand angle was increased causing alot more pressure at the mounting point.

@@ohiobackroads1548 I was at the dealership yesterday and asked them about the torque setting for the Swingarm Pivot Shaft Nut and the nuts/bolts for the lowering plates. He came back with 26 lbs for the plates. I know you said 65 in the video so I found a pdf version on a forum and it reads Rocker Arm, Tie Rod Upper and Rear Shock Lower all at 26 lbs of torque. I was wondering were you saw 65lbs?

Hello Ohio backroads, et al: I recently purchased a 2020 Versys 1000 SE which comes with electronic suspension adjustment (ESA). I reached out to two local Kawa dealers, and both told me they refrain from installing lowering kits to the model that comes with ESA. They claim it will "screw things up" in terms of the automatic adjustment of the ESA system and strongly suggested to me to not go that route. Question: is your bike or others on this chat have that ESA feature. And if your bike has ESA and you went ahead and used a lowering kit, have you noticed any negative effect on behavior of the bike and its ESA. In other words, I am not sure I am getting the right answer from the two dealers...Thanks much!

did you notice thaat after the install, the rear suspension is more harsh, and less compliant?

Hi there. I just lower my versys 1000 on the back. Is really necessary low the front? I low the back 1,5inch. I'm driving her and I like the way she is.

If it' fits well and is Egremontaly correct for your comfort then all us good because what little you loward the rear will not effect the overall all performance. Be safe my friend

Totally disagree. You have changed the geometry of the bike, taking load off the front. Imagine just lowering the rear of your car: Way less grip on the front. I've been lowering bikes for years and I always drop the triple clamps a corresponding amount. It depends on the bike how much because of the geometry of the suspension, but unless you are an uber egressive ride I would says 75-85%. I.e, if you lowering the bike 40 mm then raise the forks above the triple clamp about 30 mm. If not you have CHOPPER geometry, Pretty unsafe and way different riding characteristics. @@ohiobackroads1548

Hi, great video. I'm looking to lower my Versys 1000 too but most of my riding is pillion. I think you used the 40mm Lust Racing kit. Have you ridden with a pillion and noticed any difference?

I have had a 200lb passenger and noticed no effect on ride quality. The major changes the kit effected was putting the bike on the center stand...its now alot harder. Buy lowering the bike the catalytic converter is a little to close to the ground. After lowering the bike I caught the converter on a gas fill cap at a gas station..the caps the fuel tankers use and almost went over the handle bars...be cautious of your clearance after lowering.

Thank you for your comment, it's something to think about. I'm 5'11" and still find it a high bike with a high centre of gravity. It's a great bike to ride but hill starts can be a problem. Think the lowering kit will help my confidence and handling at standstill.

@@russellc9997 I'm also 5,11. I has having the same issue as you. At intersection and red lights I would only have one foot down with a slight angle position. After lowering I could stop with both feet planted on the ground. It made ridding the versys more enjoyable 110%.. just remember that converter is now lower and by the shap of the unit it's a sure interface problem. If you look under you bike you will also notice that the cross bar of the center stand will be even lower than the catalytic unit. Yes I would lower mine again but be aware at all times of my clearance.

Same problem here.! I'm 5'9 and I can't put my feet all flat on the floor. Is another way to put her low? Or is it the best way? I have the 2015 versys 1000

From my research it's the most practical.
