It was late night in the office by the time I left. Just another busy day with too many cases to solve. There was another one on my desk, about the murder of a Thalmor diplomat. People suspect a nord shouted him apart. Doubtful, I thought to myself as I entered the nearby tavern. And there she was. That Dunmer Dame with eyes engorging like an erupting Red Mountain. Graceful like Vivec and wearing a silken dress prettier than Almalexia. It might have been pouring, a thunderstorm outside, but in that moment, a fire alit in my eyes. It was all worth it, this day- to end up here.

I actually have a theory about how Nirn's calendar would fit with Earth's calendar, and it places 3E 433 (the year that Oblivion takes place) at AD 1922 on Earth. So in a way, this music and that poster actually fit the time period.

My theory is that Earth is in the Outer Realms beyond Mundus, along with the worlds where other ZeniMax (and I guess other Microsoft-owned) franchises take place. Dishonored's world is in another Outer Realm, and also Cronos from Hexen, Thyrion from Hexen II, Hell from the Doom series (which might even be a plane of Oblivion), and so on.

It’s possible that other, albeit smaller, dimensions exist within Aurbis besides the big three, as implied in The Monomyth. Even Elder Scrolls lore implies the existence of other deities besides the Aedra and Daedra, including Lovecraftian pantheons like the Elder Gods and Old Ones in the early DOS titles.
