It was a great night to be a Luton Town fan, remember it clearly rewatching it, the hatters had a great side in those days.

imagine the horror of the modern day pro having to play repeated replays until a winner was found

Classic kits.

Alex The amount of times I read that when looking back at this era is astounding. Truly Classy kits. Saw Bristol Rovers come to Luton a few weeks ago. It looked like the fucking Haz Mat suits against the police. Ugly kits these days. Same as the new stadia most clubs are getting. Soulless.

Best era of Adidas kits ever...in fact best era of kits period.

@@jamisbillson4872 The 90's were peak ugly for kits. I like todays though but the 80's, especially the late 80's kits were one of the best.

I was there. What a great night that was. I was also there when Luton beat Liverpool 4-1. Funny thing is I am a Liverpool fan but I had a season ticket for Luton Town. It was a treat watching my two teams.

mitchell tell me about it. Great days and great kits. And no new soulless stadiums. Football isn’t for the working chap no more. Sad.

Luton were a good side in those days but they really knew how to play on the plastic.

Paul Ndor yeah, that terrible plastic pitch we had to play on at Wembley when we won the Littlewoods Cup.🙄😉

Ha ha I hated Luton at the time, I was 12 years old. They beat us 4-1 that season as well. Good times though, when football was for the normal bloke in the street.

Anthony Dry Classy Times mate. Great kits too. These days it’s like watching a team of builders in hi vis shirts playing a bunch of paramedics. Bristol Rovers in glaring yellow against the orange army in blinding orange. Terrible.

I saw many of the Liverpool greats over the years at Luton. Alan Hanson, Souness, Rush What a privilege to see such players

Wow i remember this - it was cold. I was 12 and didn't know the result until i was in school the next day. Those were the days when we just didn't have instant online access - you had to wait to know. Luton were awesome on that pitch. So glad it got ripped up, they were just awful surfaces. A lot better artificial surfaces now though. And the football i think was inferior to what you see today - so many high balls to nowhere.

Luton were a super side then hopefully theyll be back in the top flight soon I think the last time they did was the very last 1st division season just before premier league started...

Sorry bud but that's bollocks. Luton were well renowned for playing nice passing football in the 80's. Don't get suckered into that crap about football being better now than it was then. There are long ball teams in the top flight now. West ham for one. Chelsea used to play it under Mourinho. There were also good and bad games then as there is now

Hated Luton - plastic pitch, yard dogs like Harford and banning away supporters. Can you imagine any club getting away with that now? Is that balloon of a chairman still alive that they had?
