Lutron just released a new version of their Pico Remote redesigned for their new Diva Dimmer and Claro switch. I love the look of this new control, but there are some pros and cons that might or might not make it right for you.

I like the simplicity and minimalism of the new ones. The symbols and more plastically look has been the reason why I have yet to pull the trigger until now. I might soon depending on what I think of Innovelli’s Project Linus (Which I hope you cover).

I was a home depot and Lutron has a non smart switch that I wish they had smart version. It was a touch slider dimmer switch paddle style so no physical slider it looked awesome

I’ve got a number of pico remotes mounted on pico remote stands which are weighted and mount the remote at about a 45 degree angle which would solve the which end is up issue you mentioned.

The pico pedestals hint at which way is up. I think I’ll put the new diva picos on walls, and use the old ones on pedestals as portable fine-grained remotes (if I can get 2 remotes working with the same lights).

Thanks for the review. BTW - Easy way to tell - for Diva remote - LED on the right. Am looking forward to your review on the hardwared extension switch - This looks like a better replacement for an existing 3/4-way switch where the remotes are better for placing an additional remote switch without the need for wiring. One wish for me - is a permanent LED for finding the switches in the dark - maybe motion activated.

I noticed that it slowly turns on even when the dimmer slider is set to max. Is there a way to make the pico paddle instant turn on like the wall switch?

Curious what mount you used to flush mount the Pico on a wall at 1:15:00?

Hey guys, sorry. It’s actually the small piece of plastic that Lutron ships with the pico. It has adhesive on one side and you can stick it lots of places.

Do I still need the Lutron hub to be able to use the Pico remote with the light switch? Or all can be controlled through wifi?

Does the Pico work with HomeKit? I got one from my pool builder to turn the colored lights on and off inside the pool and I would love if I could have it work with Siri.

Good review. Everyone is has become accustomed to the original Pico and Switch layout so iconically going back to a simplier design would harder to understand now (ironically).

I've been waiting for this new design of Pico remote for a while. So excited that it's finally out. Quick question, can I use 2 Pico remotes for the same diva switch? The old Pico remote did't seem to work as so for me.

If you're pairing the Pico directly to the switch, you can have up to 10 Picos per switch. If you're associating devices through a hub, then the only limit you have to worry about is the 75 overall device limit.

my kids will appreciate that this looks like a standard light switch. They don't use the original pico because of all the buttons that it has. In their defense, I never really explained how to use it or what the buttons do so they just avoid it all together. I would love to convert all my light switches to Lutron. However, I love all of the simple automations you can do with the Aqara app and their light switches. something as simple as, if this light switch turns on, turn off after 15 minutes. Trying to do this in the Apple home app/shortcuts is way more complex than it needs to be and I haven't figured out a way to do this in the Lutron app. I also love that Aqara has a number of simple yet functional products that can all work well in automations together. Plus I am a fan of hubs, so Aqara and Lutron are my go-to for switches. although, if a Aqara ever comes out with a dimmable light switch, I think that might be a game changer for my light switches.

In Lutron, that's a timer switch, most often used with fans. A better way to go about light is with an occupancy sensor switch.

What bothers me about the Diva is that it uses a physical slider. So if you have scenes, the slider doesn't match with the currently dimmed amount.

I’d just like to see Lutron update the bridge to allow Pico remotes to work as smart buttons for Apple Home or even matter products.
@jeffgreenberg6536
@jeffgreenberg6536 8 ай бұрын
That is already possible if you set up and run Homebridge with the caseta plug-in. Homebridge is not plug-and-play but it works well if you have a dedicated place to run it and a reliable home network.

It does not if you pair it directly with a Lutron switch, but it does if you want that switch to also be in a smart home setup like Apple Home or Alexa

Actually, you can use the new "Companion" wired switch with Three-way, Four-way, and larger switches that looks like the new Dive/Claro smart switches. Now if you are wanting to add just a Pico remote where there isn't a switch already, then yes these are nice. I still prefer to used all wired switches and leave the Pico remotes for desktops and bedside tables.

Hey man, never seen your channel but needed clarification on these remote’s compatibility with the original caséta dimmers so I ended up here. Great vid. Just wanted to say, I saw you messing with those old school wire nuts for a switch I imagine you change quite often when you review these types of devices. I highly recommend you check out Wago lever nuts, they make every installation so clean and you never second guess your wire twisting.

Introducing Pico Line-Powered Wireless Control Lutron’s new Pico line-powered wireless control provides the same capability as a Pico wireless remote in projects that require battery-free wall controls. The line-voltage-powered device communicates wirelessly via RF to Vive wireless load-control devices including dimmers, switches, and fixture & receptacle controls.

So the Pico paddle don't dim? That's what I've been waiting forever.. Why can't they make dim options without the ugly old style switch

Sent to Lutron: I am a long time supporter and purchaser of your products. To be brief I think you are making a huge mistake in the way that you have implemented secondary switches on the diva smart switch when paired with either the wired secondary switch or the newly announced diva pico remote. The paddle and the slider are a nice addition but the inability to dim or brighten the light that is being controlled by the main diva smart switch is a colossal mistake in my opinion. It’s highly likely that in a large room or in a top and bottom stairs arrangement of the switches the lamp level is not going to be where you want it to be. Yes being able to double tap to bring to full brightness is a help for safety reasons but it’s a completely undesirable result when trying to set the tone for the room. In a large room having to walk 25 feet to get to the switch with the slider is absolutely ridiculous! So then the only current solution is to use one of the traditional PICO remotes to solve that problem. Not a terrible solution but kind of kludgy when you look at the overall plan for how these units should work together. Ideally one could pair a diva smart switch with the paddle type secondary remote and have dim and brighten capability no matter what the setting of the slider may be. I think your mistake is that you were using the main switch with the slider as the functional primary for setting brightness when it in fact it is only one element of a larger system. Because of wiring limitations the location of the main switch may not even be the most used location! Imagine a particular fixture that is controlled by a main diva smart switch and then three other secondary pair paddle remotes. Only one of the switches can selectively control the brightness??? That makes no sense at all. I would suggest that you make a firmware update to solve this problem or make it a configuration option in terms of how the switch works. This functionality is a showstopper for me. Regards,

While I don't think the problem is as dire as you seem to feel, I agree with your basic premise. One problem I have with the original Pico remotes is that many people over the age of 50 are baffled by them. A Diva remote would be much easier on parents and other guests! But in a room where the only light is controlled by a desk lamp dimmer module I can't find a way to use the Diva remote for precisely the reasons you outline. There's simply no way to control the dimming function of the lamp. If I wanted that I could have just put a 2-button pico remote on the wall and been done with it. So here's hoping that Lutron has some plans to release a Diva remote that has dimming capabilty!

I don't like the new switches and remotes, I spent a lot of money on my Lutron switches, I don't want them to look like other switches, I want people to know I have expensive switches. lol
