I didn't mention in the video that body position dictates the shape of the take-off edge. Because there is a continuously balanced change of shape of the body, the tracing will curve commensurate with the depth of that BO. Do I need to direct attention to the fact that this straddle is cross-legged? The crotch is crossed to separate the chrome maximally, having moved continuously harmoniously into this position so that departure of limbs from the center of mass on one side of the body are compensated for to ensure continuous balance. There is minimal topple or wobble. Co-ordinated skating hip, knee, and ankle bend sustains a continuously deepening athletic power position, again with continuous balance, and with the figure skating specific recognition of toe pick scratch evasion incentive. Ankle straightens last on take-off and bends first on landing to minimise scratch. Don't be fooled by the fact that you can jump as you lose balance, thus delaying and exacerbating your eventual defeat against gravity on the "landing". I used "continuous" continually. Learn the difference in meaning of these cousin words. Words represent concepts that are useful for athletes to understand. To be continued...
