my bridge now is using the alphabetical order of the terms as this is the order of how filming would also check it: 1.) Lumen - turn on lights 2.) Lux - check how bright the subject looks or if the speaker gets blinded 3.) Nits - check it in the camera

This is fascinating! You explain this SO well that it feels like a longer video because there’s so much information that you’re able to just make understandable! Thank you so much for making and sharing these videos, I’ve learned more in 15 minutes than I did in high school and collage, and hours of googling combined!

This is a super great video, I'm studying for the NCIDQ and have been dreading studying the chapter about light. This helped SOO much, thanks for putting it together!!

Buddy, you’re an Emeritus Professor of another level, you’re alone there. I have been watching hours of videos with complicated equations in search for what nits are (I am Msc in Maths & Finance); got nothing as clear as what you have cooled down in only 3min. Kudooooos 👍

Great information! BUT I would like to see so more information correlating exposure levels to lux levels, where these are actually controllable around a studio set. You have a wonderful teaching style. Please continue!

Hello sir. I am a fellow content creator and I am in the process of producing a video comparing the screen brightness of various mobile devices. I hope you don't mind, but I plan on recommending this video to people who want to learn more about the different types of lighting intensity terminology. I plan to post the video this Friday or early next week. Just wanted you to know. Great explanations by the way.

so as far as i am concerned with buying a flashlight , lumens is the measure of how bright the led can put out , but the lux is the measure of how much light the flash light can throw out to a object at a given distance (reflector design, depth, bezel size )?

Great video! Can you make a video on how we perceive different ranges of nits? In a dark room vs a well lit room maybe?

Not too too clear. Flux (according to you) is total light energy emitted. Is that over its lifetime, or per unit time? How is this (luminous flux) different from luminosity, which IS the light output per unit time of a source? Is nits a subjective metric, or an objective but relative quantity? What is the rate of light production, vs. rate independent measure of brightness?

If "Lux" depends on distance between light source and the reflecting service, doesn't the perception of "Nits" also depend on the distance between the reflecting service (human face in your example) and the receiver (camera in your example)?
@AntonioTheOptom3 жыл бұрын
Yeah sure but you only measure nits radiating from the source, not from where the light came from to begin with

There is one simple question. Is there a way to derive the relationship between 1 lumen and 1 nit?
