Fantastic machine..... seemed to be having a little trouble turning right at times.... !
FMC modified an LVT-2 in August 1943 by moving the engine forward and adding a large ramp door in the rear,[7] allowing troops to exit from the rear of the vehicle. Capacity went from 16 in the LVT-2 to 30 making earlier LVTs largely obsolete. This innovation also greatly facilitated the loading and unloading of cargo. Some vehicles received armor kits. It was by far the most numerous version of the LVT, with 8,351 units delivered. Many of the British LVT versions were armed with a 20 mm Polsten cannon and 2 × .30 cal Browning machine guns.

As a Kid Watching Marines in War movies I was Blow away that we had Tanks that can Swim. Love these War Machines.

A couple hundred of these on Omaha beach might have saved a few lives. I wonder why they weren't used during D-Day.

DAM DOC no that model was made that same year and they could have used the crocodile as well the older version

There is a game called Steel panthers 3, its an old game, but I got these for my troops in a campaign I was playing. Looking at them for real. Wow what a machine. I think these should still be in inventory. Obviously a capable and I suspect reliable and easy to work on machine. Maybe they dont' fit on train flat cars though.

Hi Sam.... this is what I have found out from a person that knows !! "It was owned by a chap called Charles.., he sold it to a eastern European buyer a while back and its no longer in the country... I believe that there is no other in the UK either." Shame it was very special. Regards Paul
