Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, starring Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem, Constance Wu and Shawn Mendes, is a live-action/CGI musical comedy that brings this beloved character to a new, global audience.
When the Primm family (Wu, Scoot McNairy, Winslow Fegley) moves to New York City, their young son Josh struggles to adapt to his new school and new friends. All of that changes when he discovers Lyle - a singing crocodile (Mendes) who loves baths, caviar and great music-living in the attic of his new home. The two become fast friends, but when Lyle’s existence is threatened by evil neighbor Mr. Grumps (Brett Gelman), the Primms must band together with Lyle’s charismatic owner, Hector P. Valenti (Bardem), to show the world that family can come from the most unexpected places and there’s nothing wrong with a big singing crocodile with an even bigger personality.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile will feature original songs performed by Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, and Constance Wu, written by the songwriting team behind The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. Joining Pasek and Paul in writing original songs for the film are Mendes, Ari Afsar, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Mark Sonnenblick, and Joriah Kwamé. Directed and produced by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the screenplay is by Will Davies. The film is produced by Hutch Parker and executive produced by Kevin K. Vafi, Dan Wilson, Robert J. The moment this masterpiece of a trailer said, "Featuring original songs from the musical team behind 'The Greatest Showman'," I was ecstatic and shocked. I loved that movie and that is one of the many reasons I want to see this one. Also, can we please discuss how fantastic the CGI on Lyle looks? Oh. My. Gosh! Not only does he have an adorable appearance (for a crocodile), they are the best visuals we've gotten from a live action/animated movie, next to "Sonic" and its sequel. I never read the original book as a child, but this film seems like it's going to be very successful, and I sincerely hope it is.

Wow....This will be a magnificent movie considering the element of drama, a little bit of action, comedy, and musical. You know the vibes of these type of movies, it's a sense of harmony and chill vibes that I always enjoy. The vibes on the June-July holiday times are just powerful in this movie and definitely will cheer us all up.

Looks like this could be a fun movie. Lyle's design seems to be based more on an alligator than a crocodile, but then, alligators DO have a bit 'friendlier' looking face than crocodiles, and even in the original children's book he looked more gator than croc.

This book was written and illustrated by my husband's late uncle, Bernie Waber, who was a wonderful man. He dedicated one of his other books to my daughter, Sara. I can't wait to see this movie. 😍

Somehow this looks promising, because this is an adaption as opposed to a remake, because Lyle Lyle Crocodile has never had a movie until now, and I briefly remember Lyle Lyle Crocodile, and I must say, they did a good job translating him into live action, when making an adaption or a remake, I think companies need to remember if the character is an animal, they don't have to be super realistic to real life animals when transitioning them into live action throygh means of CGI, which is one of the main reasons why Lion King Flopped, but there was a deepfake on KZfaq of the live action Lion King, with the original faces of the animated Lion King, and they look so much better, if you take away what makes a cartoon a cartoon then it won't be the same and it will be lifeless, even the Chip'N'Dale movie made fun of this Pumba with his very dead expressions. Disney need to learn that applying realism to everything doesn't make a live action remake good. Same with Paramount when they made Clifford The Big Red Dog, which I honestly find Jarring because this is the same Company that made Live action Sonic, and sure they did make Ugly Sonic, but they learned from their mistakes, and I kinda like Ugly Sonic now thx to the Chip'N'Dale movie, but I guess it's a different team working on Clifford, so it's bound to mess up a lot of things. You can see how expressive Lyle is and how cartoony he is, which is a big plus for me. I think the only other live action animal character that has transitioned to live action and is also accurate to the books is Paddington. Like I see I honestly find it bizarre how Disney can't do it XD. Even with the 2022 live action Pinocchio movie coming out, when I saw Jiminy Cricket in the trailer I was just disappointed. Well those are my thoughts, I'm actually intrigued to go and see this movie. I think it will be good just like the Paddington films.

I never read the book this movie was based on, but I’m interested in checking it out regardless. Also, I’m awfully happy that Javier Bardem decided to star in something more family-friendly. Most of his other movies are pretty adult-oriented, and the closest I’ve ever come with watching movies starring him was James Bond’s “Skyfall” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”.

OML, this looks amazing and beautiful especially with the Crocodile. This feels like the next Paddington and Peter Rabbit but even more so in my opinion. Can’t wait to see how amazing it really is and I hate to say this but I take it over Jurassic World Dominion and the Live Action Alvin and the Chipmunks movies in my opinion because this looks amazing.

When i heard this film was in production, i was under the impression this was going to be fully animated... but knowing now that Sony clearly hasn't learned to stop mixing live-action with CG and Shawn god damn Mendes is voicing a crocodile... i'm no fan of musicals but this looks like it'll be a wild ride and i wanna see this

I remember I read this book when I was little Lyle, Lyle, crocodile what was my favorite book in a character and I never thought that they were going to make a movie until I watch this trailer and I was like wow one incredible this movie is and I can't wait 🐊 👍👏👏⚡❤️💯🙌

I love this why nobody knows I don’t care I just love this I couldn’t stop singing this is how he sounded (Lyle) at the top of the world tonight. When no one is to hide. I can stay like there’s at least until the morning light. You just need to watch this movie it’s amazing when it comes out I need to watch it heart this comment if you agree with me.
