honored to have tied in with her; she remains an icon to my now 16 year old daughter... there shall never be another Lynn Hill!

In the 80s I worked for Patagonia headquarters, and one day Yvon, Lynn, myself and another went snow skiing on a weekday, where Yvon helped me with my first time telemark skiing. It was a fresh snow day, good turns and a memorable day. Later that year he spoke at the all company meeting, and first said the famous “let my people go surfing” speech, which became a book on company culture.

Lynn Hill was my total inspiration when I was heavy into rock climbing back in the day. Same height. "there are no height problems, only strength problems" NO EXCUSES. This is such a great sport, in which you ultimate, compete with yourself. It teaches you not only physical discipline, but mental as well, focus, and problem solving. I can't say enough good things about it. It's like chess and yoga, all wrapped into one. And what better way to commune with nature, than to play on it.

Absolutely amazing at 15:25 you can see her partner belaying her up one of the hardest free climbs in the world at that time, with two carabiners and a Munter hitch.

Well done, Lynn. That was an incredible feat. Your achievement is an inspiration in persistence, determination, and self-discipline. And you beat all the men to the top of that difficult climb. Fantastic!

Oh I remember seeing articles in 'High' magazine and 'One the Edge' about Lynn Hill and Isabelle Patissier while staying at a YHA Youth Hostel in the Lake District when I was aged about 14, before I got into rock climbing myself, but I could appreciate a gorgeous woman! By the time I was 18 or so, I had got into climbing myself, and they were still doing some amazing climbing!

Lynn; I remember bouldering with you and 2 of my friends at Josh back in around 1983... I remember you made every climb look easy :)

An incredible feat by an incredibly talented climber. I do wonder if the Great Roof would have gone free if it hadn't been nailed on aid so many times, thereby increasing the size of the crack enough for her tiny fingers?

Golden Age of Modern Climbing in North America. So many innovations. Change in attitude for sports climbing vs aid vs trad climbing . Or combinations of all. Women in Climbing….super-duper! Rock gets hot in the Sun.

6:00 "using only the natural features of the rock" .... well, I guess pin scars and chipped holds are now natural features of the rock too? Because the route wouldn't go without them. (To be fair, Hill didn't create any of the damage that let her climb the route... that was all done by others.)

I climbed with Lynn Hill a couple of times. Once in the Showagunks when I was younger, and in Joshua Tree and other areas in later years. She’s an amazing climber, but not a nice person to be around

If only women like this were highlighted more rather than the vacuous 'role models' we are bombarded with.
