Feeling emotional? A mother, setting her son down, and giving him the best advice she can. Be simple, troubles come and go, find a good woman, don't be greedy, and always remember, there's someone watching from above. Emotional? Damn right. Beautiful song and a true song. Fantastic advice.

I think the emotional aspect comes from the lyrics. They make you look inward to what is really important. Not the material things on the outside. And of course, the guitars are fantastic as they always are.

I'm a woman and have always gotten it because my Daddy was a simple kind of man. He was the best Father all 5 of his daughters could've ever had. @@Teresia12 I get what your saying but, and I'm happy you had a great Dad. The point he is making I think is the song is from the perspective of a man. The sacrifices your dad made and the temptation he resisted to be just a simple hard working man. He also benefitted from those sacrifices. He lived a satisfying life. The point is that you don't chase things that in the end won't make you truly happy. As a dad my family is my greatest accomplishment by far.

You really have to listen to the real Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ronnie VanZant wrote this about his grandmother but any of the Lynyrd Skynyrd songs Ronnie VanZant sang his heart out. If you write a song you are the only one who can sing it from the heart and soul you used to write it, if you listen to this band sing real Lynyrd Skynyrd songs it's like listening to a garage band trying to play Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. Sirously you need to go to the original.
