these new generations will never understand being simple. can you imagine a time without cell phones? a time when kids played in the streets and rode bikes? a time when we could walk barefoot into the store to get a bottle of soda? playing outside until dark and hanging out at the pool all day! those days are gone forever.

Being "simple" in not to be confused with being empty, or not complex. It means to bring yourself down to earth. Life is messy and hard as hell, but keep calmness within yourself, don't get too stressed, don't get overwhelmed. Keep it simple. Let yourself be relaxed. 🤟

Livin' by the 'Simple Man' and 'Red, White, and Blue' creeds. World would be a better place if everyone did that... Only got to see the "original' lineup once, on August 6, 1977 at Superbowl of Rock in Chicago. I was totally blown away by the performance they gave.... and gobsmacked the day I heard the terrible tragedy on the radio. Forty three years later, it is still with me like it was yesterday. RIP Ronnie and all those that have followed.... I will never forget!

This song has touched everyone who has ever heard it a timeless masterpiece written by the greatest rock group or any group for that fact everytime I see Ed King or Allen or Gary or Steve Gaines I get tears I can't help it these men were my lifelong idols to never be replaced I just can't find the words how thus music affects me it was and is so very very important to me I wish I could say more but I can't find the words they are worthy of God bless this band and the music so precious they gave to the world I hope 500 years from now in some post apocalyptic place they find these songs and I bet you they will be awe struck by its greatness

Simple Man" epitomized Ronnie Van Zant, who enjoyed friends, family, and a good time far more than anything money could buy. He held true to these values even after he found fame. Van Zant died in the 1977 plane crash that also claimed the lives of Skynyrd guitarist Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines (brother and sister). When the band reunited and toured in 1987, they dedicated this song to him. Even though the lyrics state, "Sit beside me, my only son," Ronnie was not the only son. He had two younger brothers along with one older sister and one younger sister. Those younger brothers are Donnie, who formed and fronted .38 Special; and Johnny, who took over as Skynyrd frontman after Ronnie's death.

I grew up in this music. I very fortunate to see them in the day. I have all their music. The lyrics speak truth and heart. They were the best then and still are in my heart. The music today, not even close.

I was 29 when this performance graced that venue...Having worked for a certain multinational Company until 2005, I have lived a life that is anything but simple...however, I have learned to live simply and genuinely...Sometimes, I wish I could have my youth back...but then I see the road that lies ahead and am faced with the fact that will never be. Instead we must FORGE ahead in life because clocks do not run backwards...

@@pedrovicnt_ He was already way out of the band by the time the crash happened. He quit during I think it was 75 in the middle of a tour. Ronnie and Ed's roadie wound up in jail the night before and got to the show late. So Ed had to play with old strings and 2 broke during the show. He was like fuck this and just left. He said although he loved the guys their lifestyle didn't mesh with his at all. The band although pissed had said later on how Ed's businesslike attitude definitely helped them.
