A little bit of background information: Tuomas is a big classic Disney fan. There is a comic book written and drawn by Don Rosa, the life and times of scrooge mcduck, that tells the story of how Scrooge became so rich. Tuomas contacted Don Rosa and asked him if it's ok to put this story into music. Don Rosa said ok, he had never heard of Tuomas or Nightwish before, so he didn't know what to expect. Years later, Tuomas contacted him again, and said he has composed all the music. When Don heard what Tuomas made out of his story, he was in tears. Tuomas recorded a whole album with Johanna, his wife as main vocals. One song of the album got a music video, this one. Don Rosa is also included and drew the cover of the album. I really love this song, it's lyrics are so deep, and it is uplifting and sad at the same time. Thank you for taking my suggestion and reacting to this song. Johanna's vocals are so lilting and calming, she has a way of touching the soul. Her voice is perfect for Auri and also the group "Eye of Melian" .

I see you've already received good information about this album/song. I can just add that (apart from Johanna) other singers also contributed to this album. One of them is Tony Kakko, lead singer of Sonata Arctica and a good friend of Tuomas. Troy Donockley is a guest musician on the album, which also features the London Symphonic Orchestra. The whole album is quite a nice listen, especially if you know the story. But even without that, the songs are really good.

From Auri I recommend "Pearl Diving", amazing sound, song and lyrics, and lyric video. And what an ending... super-uplifting song.

The amazing thing about Tuomas is that he'll say things in a way a native speaker never would but it comes out as incredibly poetic.

I think that Tuomas and his lyrics are mostly master class poems. And not to forget, English is not his first language. Must take a genius to write such poems, and to create such incredible music. Tuomas works close with the Orchestra and everything he creates is emotional and masterful and all the backing tracks for Nightwish is created and recorded just for those concerts. Also Floor is also pre recorded backing vocals. So there's a lot going on in the background to a Nightwish concert. Tuomas even though would love to string along an Orchestra with Nightwish but imagine the expense of taking one on tour around the world?

For backround info: "TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN AND DON ROSA INTERVIEWED BY RADIO NOVA" parts 1&2, only 5 minutes or so altogether. Interesting and funny. Both men are so humble that they are both blushing, while praising each other. They had a signing event together in Finland that lasted 7,5 hours. But all in all this song/album is not as well known as it should be. Tuomas knew it was going to be a marginal project. He produced and paid for it, and only afterwards asked Nuclear Blast if they wanted to release the album. They said yes without even listening to it. In return Tuomas agreed to do one video, against his initial thought. This song was an obvious choice for the video, because of it's "normal" structure, although it is not Tuomas' favorite - but it is mine. The other songs are more like soundtrack music. One of the comments on the video is from a Swedish musician, thanking Tuomas: "Without you I would never have touched the piano, but now I have recorded four albums." Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela on vocals. She was 29 when this was recorded, Tuomas is 8 years older.
