All adventure sports athletes have Epics - Ordinary adventures rendered difficult, dangerous, or deadly by a combination of weather, injuries, darkness, lack of preparedness, bad judgement or other adverse factors. A "Secret Epic" is a mis-adventure that was potentially disastrous, but not big enough to make the trades or be spoken of on blogs. However, the stories are gripping, and worth telling.
