I was watching the Ham Clock while I ran a test for the guy who is beta testing the next release. I noticed propagation was abysmal. I noticed a sudden jump of the X-Ray value to M-class, which correlates to the bar propagation on the HF bands. I was able to monitor the intensity of the flare as it continued to rise. M is a medium flare. It can adversely affect HF communications for 10-60 minutes. Watch the video to see how high the X-ray flux valued reached.
If you are interested in purchasing the HF Clock, here is a link: www.veritiumhfclock.com. I recommend the Raspberry Pi version. The ESP (Wooden) units are slow and have limited functionality.
If you only want the software, it is called Ham Clock. Here is a link that shows how to install it free on a PC: w4cae.com/wait-a-hamming-minu...
There is an inexpensive Inovato Quadra computer bundle that comes with the software installed. As I write this, the bundle only costs $50. It is available from: www.inovato.com
Note: Ham Clock version 3.03 included significant changes related to the DX clusters. Prior to 3.03, every single spot from the cluster to the clock resulted in the clock sending a show/heading command which a very vocal minority of dxcluster sysops objected to. From 3.03 onwards, the heading calculations are done locally to take the stress off of the remote cluster. For versions after 3.03, the clock puts no more load on the dxcluster network than any other user does which is a good thing. However, the local CPU load is now very high for the ESP version of the HF Clock. Users of the ESP version of the HF Clock will notice a loss of the ability to tap a callsign in the DX cluster and see the short path plot, beam heading, DX WX, and VOACAP data for the station you clicked on. The processor in the HF Clock is just not powerful enough to keep up with the new programming that was required to minimize the load on the DX cluster servers.
Below is a list of reliable DX cluster hosts I have found:
Note: If you leave the Login field blank, it will use the callsign you entered in the setup menu. If you have more than one instance of Ham Clock running, use your callsign-1, callsign-2, callsign-3, etc., so the clusters don’t block you for logging in too many times with the same callsign.

Yearly S7 (Executive) members can receive one menu optimizations PDF while yearly S9 (VIP) members can receive multiple menu optimizations documents, plus my FT8 configuration guide for either the FTdx10 or the FT-710 AESS. Thanks for the FT8 QSO last night. It was the highlight of my QSO day, also thanks for the great FTDX10 videos. WA5RIP

It was my honor, Michael. I don’t venture into FT8 or FT4 territory very often. I made 17 contacts last night. Two were on 6 meters. One was 1 mile away and the other was 6 miles away. Ha! Groundwave.

@@n4hnhradio I was working FT8 before my county emergency response net and I realized halfway through the QSO it was you. It was a pleasant surprise. I was just talking about your FTDX10 videos with an operator in Scotland just yesterday afternoon then we had a QSO so my next DMR net with him will be interesting. Thanks for all the wonderful videos. You have helped me with SSB QSO a lot on POTA. WA5RIP Michael Stay cool in Hotlanta. 😀

I was working the world with my new Acom amp and the first flare came and things became hard work, then the m6 came and every band was dead. Couldn’t hear a single signal. Never seen anything like it in my 42 years as a ham.

Writing from Hungary. Would this level impact 'wifi'? I am having a very hard time keeping things operating...cell phone, laptop etc. Thank you!

I think it would take an X-Class flare to interfere with WiFi. M-Class usually only affects the sunny side of the Earth for an hour +/-.

It lasted less than an hour. I was able to work a special event station in France on 21MHz approximately one hour after the M-6.0 flare. It was a 4,348 mile contact. Propagation is still not as good as it should be though.
