Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another Måneskin reaction with "L'altra dimensione." This is a great uptempo song that is catchy, against great strings, latin/mediterranean rhythms, and over course Damiano's insane vocals. The blonde young actor is one of Damiano's closest friends, his name is Giulio Pranno and he's a promising star of Italian cinema. He worked with some important Italian directors. The other members of the band are among the crowd singing and dancing. The repeated phrase "Il ballo della vita" is the one tattooed on Damiano's chest to celebrate their first album. "The other dimension" is the world of art where everyone can join to experiment joy, happiness and freedom given by Marlena (it symbolises art). Damiano asks Marlena to teach him the dance of life.

Not enough people have seen this video. It feels really different to any other song they do but it just feels like the best party in the world and it encapsulates everything they want the world to be, the dance of life. This song reminds me that Måneskin are idealists at heart

There is a music genre that mixes latin rhythms with european folk, north african or reggae music. It's called patchanka and comes from artists like Manu Chao, Manonegra or Zebda. In Italian you can listen to Apres la Classe, Bandabardó, Modena City Ramblers or Roy Paci. Ciao 🤟👋

They could release this today in the U.S. with Spanish lyrics and I think it would skyrocket, esp. on Spanish language stations. Don't you think? :) They can do anything.

@@lilise3965 Because I'm sure, like Laura Pausini before them, for example, they'd like to reach the huge numbers of Spanish speakers here. As is the case in all the Anglophone countries, it's very difficult to have a broad and long career in them unless you sing in English. Look at Celine Dion, another Eurovision winner. In the U.S. there's also a huge Spanish market, and then there's the rest of the Americas. Believe me, I want them to start out with an Italian version, for one thing because he writes so much better in Italian, as well as for my own national pride, but to reach the biggest possible audience I think they'd do well to release English versions. Just take a look at what is charting for them; it's their less good originally English songs. It's a pity, but there it is.

@@pliny8308 Let's stop selling our Italian identity short! These guys don't need to take the latino shortcut.They have already crashed the mainstream American market. It's got to be either English or Italian. Lots of people all over the world adore how Italian sounds.

Eros Ramazotti did a very similar thing with so many of his Italian hits making then inm Spanish: Just one example "Un'emozione per sempre" that became "Una emoción para siempre" for the Hispanic market. He has so many of these dual releases

Marlena is not a person, she is an inspiring muse, she is the leitmotif of the whole album "the dance of life", in "torna a casa" Damiano calls her, begs her to come back, the dancer in the video is figurative (yes is rehabilitating ..), in "le parole lontane" it is love or artistic inspiration that touches and runs ... in fact at the end of the video they look for her outside the villa ... in the silence of nature ... anyway these are my interpretations ... and it is right that everyone gives their own :)

Hey, Dereck, so nice to see your reaction, it looks like you really enjoyed this one, and you did get it right from the beginning even though the lyrics are in Italian. Btw, the other band members are also all in the video, you might not have recognised them because they were so much younger then, but for instance Victoria is right there, on the right (from 02:56) to the centre where you paused at 03:13. And you can see Ethan jumping up and down at 02:59, and both Thomas and Ethan, on the right hand side, dancing in the crowd that welcomes the young man from 04:54. I might have missed a few appearances, but, well, it's pretty chaotic. It's a party!

this isn't my preferred from Maneskin, but I reckon it might have a much universal appeal, it's got the potential to be a massive summer hit - I can see anyone dancing to it: Granma', kids and the lot....it's incredibly catchy and that Oh, Eh, Oh is just what we need after this Covid sxxt. In fact I wondered why hasn't reached number one in Italy - probably covid? This was recorded just before the pandemic started (but I might be wrong). btw - the other 3 of the band are there in the bunch jumping and shouting Oh,Eh,Oh,Eh,Oh,Eh "Il Ballo Della Vita" = "The Dance Of Life"...this is what the big tatoo in the upper chest of Damiano's says.

@@tothesouth2365 there are a couple of live videos of their concerts in Milan in 2018 - they play it last and it sounds so incredibly catchy with Damiano's jumping and those Oh and Eh and Oh from the audience and Damiano shouting "Il Ballo Della Vita". This should have been a summer hit but then Covid struck (pity).

Assolutamente d’accordo con te. Purtroppo quando ho ascoltato questa canzone per la prima volta, mi ha un po’ allontanato dai Måneskin, che ho sempre amato, dai tempi di Xfactor… il fatto che anche loro avessero “ceduto” al tentativo di una hit estiva, mi ha un bel po’ deluso. Non cambio idea su questa canzone. Forse la più brutta scritta da loro. Per il resto, nulla da dire sui Måneskin. Meravigliosi!

@@niccuc mah...io la ascotai subito dopo il successo all'Eurovisione e mi son detto non e' il mio genere....ma riascontandola adesso mi piace sempre di piu' - non ho l'orecchio per questo tipo di canzoni ma devo riconoscere che potrebbe essere un vero successo - il mio campo e' molto sperimentale e mentre ho ascoltato Post Punk, alternative e Industrial per decenni cerco sempre di trovare il nuovo - ultimamente le cose piu' innovative le sento nel campo hiphop/rap (vivo in UK - molti artisti Italiani vengono conosciuti solo adesso grazie ai Maneskin)....ma quando si tratta di Rock anche ammesso che i Maneskin siano puro Rock - non pensi che ci sia stata una forzatura? Che siano stati indirizzati da altri (ci sono molti esperti dietro le quinte). E poi nel Rock attuale sento sempre troppo influenze dal passato mentre rimango piu' aperto ad altri generi - infatti nel contesto sto rivalutando Il Ballo Della Vita e probabilmente lo preferisco al Teatro Dell'Ira (e' piu' vario) - loro I Maneskin amano tutta la musica non solo il Rock - che e' piu' prominiente nell'ultimo CD).

@@stefanogortaldi3156 difficile risponderti davvero. Io li seguo dai loro esordi. Alla fine quanto siano “rock inside” o siano stati indirizzati ad esserlo è difficile dirlo. A intuito, credo che, per come funzionano le cose in Italia, siano stati più indirizzati al pop e al cantare in italiano dai discografici. Ciò non è detto che sia male eh: mi piacciono molte cose loro più “soft ed italiane”. La soluzione forse sta nel fatto che sono in 4 e sono davvero molto diversi tra loro in termini di ispirazione musicale. Questo credo sia un bene, perché una delle loro caratteristiche è il fatto che siano molto vari e spazino tra tanti generi musicali, prediligendo un approccio funk rock. Il tutto condito dalla bellissima vocalità di Damiano e dal fatto che (su questo sono tanto migliorati) suonino davvero molto molto bene live. La loro estetica e ciò che intendono comunicare (be yourself no matter what they say) è un valore aggiunto. Ps.: anche io non sono un rocckettaro, ma devo dire che loro mi piacciano molto e mi inorgoglisce, pur non amando il concetto di “patria” che portino un po’ di “Italia buona” nel mondo ☺️

Latino comes from the ancient people who founded Rome over 2700 years ago: the Latini. Now that region is called Lazio. Then latino became the language that gave origins to all the romance languages and it extended to all the people speaking them. Maneskin are from Rome so I would say original latinos 😉

It reminds me of a French song from almost 35 years ago ....... I deduce that Maneskin does not make any innovation and is just in fashion for a few weeks lol I have always enjoyed Italian music and there are better ones out there right now ....
