Hello, everyone! Long time no see! I would like to say sorry that I couldn’t upload the video on KZfaq until right before end of the semester, because of being so busy these days…
One of my selections for performance test this semester was “Gaspard de la Nuit (M. 55)” by Maurice Ravel, so I decided to present you this piece. This piece was based on three poems from “Gaspard de la Nuit”, a compilation of prose poems by Aloysius Bertrand - I highly recommend reading it while listening to the piece! The first movement, “Ondine” - performed on today’s video - was composed after a poem of the same name. At first glance, you’ll face the following obstacles: the piece sounds extremely convoluted, and notes are so formidable to play correctly. However, if you overcome these obstacles, you will definitely notice how the composer depicted what Ondine (well-known as “Undine”) said and did in the poem, BEAUTIFULLY AND EFFECTIVELY! Knowing the “genius” of Ravel shown in the first movement was enough to mesmerize into this piece, and “Ondine” became one of my favorites despite technical and musical difficulties.

안녕하세요! 정말 오랜만입니다ㅠ 드디어 학기가 끝나가네요.. 요근래 너무 바빴어서 영상이 뜸한점 죄송합니다..! 오늘 여러분들께 들려드릴 곡은, 제 실기시험곡 Moris Ravel(라벨)의 Gaspard de la nuit(밤의 가스파르)인데요, 그 중 오늘 들려드리는곡은 그 중 첫번째 곡 Ondine(물의 요정) 이라는 곡입니다. 이 곡은 상당히 난해하디 난잡한 음형과 음 사이에 보여주는 음악이 매우 아름답고 천재적입니다. 이 곡이 묘사하는 '물의 요정' 의 행동 하나하나가 아주 음악에 잘 스며 들었습니다. 그리고 이 곡은 라벨이 베르트랑의 시 중 "물의 요정" 이라는 작품을 기반으로 작곡을 했는데 실제로 그 시를 읽고 이 음악을 들어보면 상당히 맞아 떨어지는 구석이 많아서 더욱 흥미롭습니다:) (한번 읽어보시는걸 추천드립니다.) 아무튼 이 어렵디 어려운 곡임에도 불구하고 그 속에 피어나는 아름다운 노래는 힘든연습시간 또한 저를 즐겁게 만들어주었습니다 ㅎㅎㅎ 제가 정말 좋아하는 곡이기도 하고요. 아무튼 다음주에는 두번째곡인 "교수대" 로 찾아뵙겠습니다! 군대가기전 남은 시간동안 최대한 영상을 많이 올려야겠습니다 ㅎㅎ 감사합니다!
