Mürren is a village of some 450 inhabitants, located 1,638 meters above sea level above a high cliff overlooking the Lauterbrunnental in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland.
It offers a wonderful panorama of the famous Eiger-Mönch-Jungfrau trio as well as the entire Lauterbrunnen valley. As access by car is not possible, passengers and goods must be transported by funicular and train or by cable car.
Mürren has its own school, two churches as well as several hotels and a number of holiday apartments totaling over two thousand beds.

The mountain village of Mürren, located at 1650 m above sea level, leaves a lasting impression on visitors with its brown-edged chalets and the breathtaking view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Mürren and its surroundings (notably the nearby summit of the Schilthorn) were used extensively for the filming of the 1969 James Bond 007 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, starring George Lazenby (as the British secret agent) and Diana Rigg, made famous by the Bowler Hat and Leather Boots series. The bobsleigh track, on which James Bond is chased by Blofeld (played by Telly Savalas), was indeed on municipal territory: it was already closed due to fatal accidents but had been made available for filming purposes .
Two roads lead to the idyllic mountain village of Mürren. From Lauterbrunnen, take the gondola to Grütschalp and continue by comfortable, nostalgic train to Mürren. For a little more thrill, take the spectacular cable car that takes you from Stechelberg to Mürren via Gimmelwald.
