The laser does burn whatever it comes into contact with. At normal speeds, this is typically just the paint layer that is immediately beneath the glass. Also, between the resulting ash and the paper layer covering it, the copper probably doesn't get touched by the laser (and if it does, it will just discolor, as the laser isn't that strong). But that being said, you should avoid burning over any of the cutout areas in the back frame. This wasn't so much of a problem when we posted the video, but it's definitely more relevant now with the 11 and 12 series phones, which have a lot of cutouts. For these situations, I recommend engraving the replacement glass first, and then installing it onto the phone (like we did in the Kobe video).

It's possible there's an issue with the aluminum measurement tab (see our Weak Laser Fix video). Sometimes the tab gets bent or is incorrectly installed, which prevents the sensor from detecting it. Without that detection process, the machine can't determine the appropriate "focus".

As long as the template is properly aligned, it should avoid burning around the charging coil. But still, be careful when removing the glass. Since Apple's glue sometimes bleeds onto it, it's possible to accidentally rip the coil out in the process.

Unfortunately I can't assist with that since we no longer carry this machine. However, what I recommend is creating a duplicate template for the model you need (click File -> Save As). Then disassemble the template using the techniques in the video, delete the unnecessary parts, then fill and regroup the remaining shapes (the techniques are demonstrated in the part of the video where I move the camera frame). I think that should work, but unfortunately I can't test it myself. Good luck.

You can connect to a laptop using a USB cable, but you need to install the software onto the laptop first. There is a website where you can download the software and drivers. Open the Windows Add/Remove Programs menu from the Control Panel. Look for the installed software (it will most likely be written in Chinese). There should be a web address listed there. That website should have the program and drivers needed to use it with a separate computer.

However, if you just want a bigger screen to work on, I recommend buying a usb monitor adaptor instead. It is probably less of a hassle. We have a video on our channel that illustrates this process.

The software usually comes pre-installed on the machine. Typically, it's a little orange M-Triangel Logo on the desktop. If it wasn't pre-installed, contact your vendor for a download link. They will have a website set up where you can download software and drivers in a single installation package.

Do you mean it just shows a red square around the phone, instead of the phone's shape? If so, there's a setting in the lower right (I think it's called "red light outline") under the Red light and Mark buttons. Selecting that option should enable the shape to display. Sorry I could not be more specific. We no longer carry this machine so I cannot check it myself.

I am not sure about the mini. We only had the model with the built-in screen. But if it's using the same software, then you should be able to download the templates to the machine by clicking the "download" button (located below the model dropdown list). If not, check with your vendor for support. They should be able to provide a download link for any software or drivers you need.

Note: the machine will need to be connected to internet BEFORE starting the software. Otherwise the download button will not display. Check our "Basic Use" or "Advanced Use" videos for an example of the download/update process.

Yes it can controlled with a Windows computer. You will need to download and install the software and drivers (check with your vendor for a link), and then connect the machine with a standard USB cable.

Unfortunately it can't do anything in color. The laser just burns the surface of whatever you put under it. So it's more like a black and white printer in that respect. Also, the machines do have templates for iPhone 12 series devices (and older machines can download those templates via the update button in the software). However, please be aware that iPhone 12 back glass removal is trickier than previous models since the MagSafe magnets are glued to the glass. Those magnets will need to be re-adhered to the replacement glass.

Is it just the brand/model drop-down menus that are missing? Or the entire entire window? Because if the whole window is missing, it's possible that it's just turned off. Check the "View" menu at the top of the screen to see if there's an option there to turn it on. (Sorry I can't be more specific- we don't carry this machine anymore so I can't check it myself). As for the software, definitely reach out to your vendor. I've seen different versions of software and templates on KZfaq, so it's possible that different vendors have their own software packages. It would be best to get the software that is specifically made for your machine first, before trying any others. Regarding the glue- you must use the second template to burn off the remaining glue. These machines come with two templates for each model: one that only has holes for the camera and charge coil (this is for removing the glass), and one that has many more holes (this is for burning off the remaining glue after the glass has already been removed). All those extra holes are so that the laser avoids sensitive components while burning the exposed glue.
