Looking at 40+ yr old design tech I think, with the 109. Not saying its smart keeping that around but its apples to oranges comparing it to modern howitzer systems.

@@lunseren rate of fire is very important, the faster you get those rounds down range the sooner you can pack and leave, and that`s less time for counter battery to strike effectively.

Your comment made me think of a series of novels I've read over the years...Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series. He's a British solder in the Napoleonic Wars era, circa 1790's - 1825. Anyway, in many of the books the artillery/canon technology is detailed....fuses and primers, and Red Legs are discussed. I know it's ancient technology today, but I thought that mention of "red legs" was interesting. 🤔

@@thesep1967 They are fast, but can't really tell from the footage because ist not one continuous clip. It's some footage that has been cut afterwards.

@@blackdification You're right, there's a cut at 0:36. Judging from the smoke evolving I can't see a cut between 0:00 and 0:36. By then 4 shots have been fired. We were trained to do 3 shots per minute with the A3 (chain driven rammer) rather consistently. With the A5Ö hydraulic rammer and the primer magazine 6 shots per minute were pretty standard at least for the first minute. Then it was time to skedaddle anyway.

@@blackdification No, that doesn't matter. PT is a part of a soldier's daily routine, running, swimming, working out, etc. At least it should be. Standards have really been relaxed the last few decades as far as physical fitness. Both on entering the military originally , and maintaining fitness. It's sad. Too many fat couch/video game potatoes out there these days.

@@guytansbariva2295 it is indeed... Though I think it's a lot of factors that are part of the problem like fast-food culture, relaxed food industry standards, lack of awareness of health problems down the road etc...

@@blackdification It's a familial cultural problem too. Seeing parents giving their 4 year old toddler Coke and chicken nuggets or tacos at the local mall is some of where the problem starts. Some kids are getting type 2 diabetes before age 15. Overweight and non-athletic young adults is one reason the military had to lower their entrance requirements starting decades ago. But some areas of the country and types of families are better than others though. Since the 1990's studies show that White Liberal kids are healthier than those from White Conservative families, as well as those from Black, and Hispanic families. Asian kids are the healthiest overall. Economic level, education level, etc etc are the suspected reasons. Of course, kids from White Liberal and Asian families aren't exactly the type to consider joining the military in the first place generally 😜
