I did the same blender test on my M1 Pro (base) surprisingly the results are 8 min 20 sec and battery dropped only 5 percent 🤷 around 10% difference only

So far the internet has found out that all 512 GB models have slower SSDs the 2 TB models has fast SSD. But not a single KZfaqr has answered the remaining big question: Are the 1 TB models fast or slow?!!!! WHY IS THIS TAKNG SO LONG?!!!

They are fast. 1tb is fine, lol. It’s about the smaller models not using multiple ssds. Meaning the sequential read and write is slower as they are splitting data across two ssds or four

Hi, thanks for a thorough real world comparison clearly explained! Very helpful. I was confused by the Cinebench at 2:29 -- the graphic seems to be saying the M1 is faster (shorter is better) but the label and voice over say the M2 is faster. I just ran a test of a Premiere Pro project with many AE bits and varied video and still sources (M1 and M2 both Pro, both 32GB) and the M1 took 79 minutes to output and the M2 took... 78 minutes. Could be Premiere doesn't maximize the M2's capabilities? Or maybe it's time to switch to Davinci.

I think there will be almost no difference. In some applications, it will run up to 10% faster. I think the Media Engine was improved on the M2 Pro but that may be wrong.

Looks like the base M2 SSD is a slower on read, and close on write, and in general the M2 is faster on any operation that involves CPU/GPU.

Summarizing after your video, I still leave my base 14inch macbook pro and buy 1 more PC case to handle heavy tasks. I'm a photographer, so my job is to edit photos with PS quite a lot with image view through capture one for guests to see, so with the 10-bit color screen promotion I'm still satisfied. If the base m2pro has a significant screen improvement, I will buy it. But with the above trickle changes, I still feel it's not worth the money, either waiting for about a year after buying it may be more reasonable or looking forward to the m3pro chip with more improvements.

I love your videos, it has always helped me in almost all of my various purchases. I wanted to ask if going for the 12 core m2 pro 14" will be a good long term investment (5-7yrs). I am in my 1st year of college and currently have an hp pavilion 15 cc129tx model (have had it for 3 yrs now) and it is really slow and not at all up to my daily needs. I mainly use it for coding and learning video editing (like xcode etc) and various college assignments. i want to switch to macbook pro but am confused which one to go for. I don't want to buy a mac now and then change to another after just 3-4 yrs. Right now the work i do might not be heavy or professional yet, but I'm sure it will get heavy in another 2 yrs so I want a laptop that can handle the workload when i reach that stage. so what do you suggest i go for? pls help

Did you compared the speakers side by side? Someone just found that the storage isn't the only thing downgraded in the newer model, also the speakers seem to have taken a downgrade. I hope that's just a faulty unit case or a software bug... If that's not the issue and it turns out that the sound system is really downgraded that would really really suuuck! 🤦

I have seen the 1TB get >4.5Gbps, so 1TB will be more than enough for most. The 2TB is faster still, >6Gbps.

Finally I think that I have done a good thing saving my money last year, this year I wanna buy this MacBook for sure and this is going to be my first ever personal laptop ☺ as I only have a desktop PC since 2013. For me I think it doesn't matter much that the Ssd was slow because I really loved this new MacBook with a very good battery life and thermals even though it is using more power. Just loved it 😘

In the UK i got an m1 pro 14inch 8/16cores 16/512 for almost 19% discount over the original price - a refurb. Cost £1459. A new M2 pro base model wouldve cost me £690 MORE… and it SMOKES my old mac and uses probably 1/3 the energy. feeling smug at the bargain.

Here in Korea, the base 14" m1 pro brand new currently cost converted £1,520. But they have a preorder discount of 10% off, so the m2 pro base 14" costs £1,620. With only £100 pound difference, many people will probably opt for m2 pro.

I got the 14" M1 Pro 16GB 1TB and I've used it to work in 3 different operating systems, work remotely, develop games and custom blockchains. Compile code, do video editing, etc. It is insane how this one laptop can handle any of the many workloads I throw at it with ease. Buttery smooth. I am yet to 'choke' it in terms of power needs.

Sticking with my M1 pro with 32gig ram. It's fast and reliable without overheating. Basically anything from m1 pro upwards, with regards to speed and performance, is relative and splitting hairs. When the macbooks with 3 nanometer chips come out, that will be worth looking into.

Hey, sorry to be that guy, but your calculation of 1.xx times faster is weird. you should use percentages. they're easier to interpret. For instance, @6:24 you compare Compressor 4k (1m 14s, or 74s, on M1 vs 51s on M2). the M2 is 23s faster than the M1, hence 23s/74s = 31% faster. Or put another way, the M2 pro takes 69% the amount of time that the M1 does. If you multiply the M1 speed (74s * (100%-31%)) = 74s*.69 = 51s

I am looking for a new macbook pro and am confused between 2 models 1) Macbook pro m2 pro 14 inches with 10 core CPU, 16 core GPU, 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD (getting this at 1999 dollars) 2) Macbook pro m1 pro 16 inches with 10 core CPU, 16 core GPU, 16gb RAM and 1TB SSD (Refurbished) Getting this at 2079 dollars Should I go for the latest chip in the market or a previous version that gives me better speakers, battery, screen and double storage?

I can send my m1pro back to amazon and get the new m2pro adding 500€, but afterl lookin at this, i'm gonna stick with my boy and invest money in something else, thanks for the video!
