Adam, It seems you may have vacuum leak. Check vacuum hose that goes to Secondary air injection devices in front of the intake manifold Or if your car doesn't have vacuum pump in the back of it there's a long hose that goes to that. that can be also leaking. Bottom lines you do have a vacuum leak.

@@mbhmercedes-benz7822 are there any components on the front of the manifold itself that can become exposed and leak? I suspect the manifold because sometimes it will not make the whistle noise until I rev the engine which I think may be forcing the flaps to open.

Juan, They are on the back of intake on both sides. They are part of intake manifold and not sold separately. Good luck.

That's not the worst part. Worst part is the internal runner flaps are also plastic & after the garbage on the front breaks, the internals can/will come apart & take out a few valves. The plastic will literally melt into the valves & become 1 w/ them & that's that. Part plus gaskets & fuel injector o rings is just under $700. For a new piece of plastic crap. Shop time should be about 3.5 hrs for M272 & possibly 4hrs for M273 due to tighter engine bay. I feel your pain. Car is sitting in the garage waiting for the over priced plastic now.

@@RothBeyondTheGrave Did you ever do this job? I found my shaking engine problem I think you experienced the same issue. It is a leak in the manifold itself for me. Were you changing the entire intake manifold? I was going to put a new manifold, gakets, fuel injector o rings and I am not sure if I should replace the plastic thing that everyone says breaks with the aluminum one that they sell.

They make a lot to replace the parts for like $20-40 on Amazon that are metal.

Replace the intake manifold.

Dear Beau Be. We charge 4 hours for labor to replace this type of intake manifold and for some engines that have bigger engines with less working room,say like CLK550 we charge 4.5 hours for labor. HTH, Sorry for delay. Sam

Yessir. Same engine & manifold, just smaller displacement than shown here.

There is a ton of car carbon build up on the flaps which are made (sadly) of plastic which Mercedes-Benz is famous for becoming brittle. If you reuse the intake manifold, small pieces will be ingested into your intake (ask me how I know)....plus, there is no way to change the pivot without removing the intake manifold.....owning a Benz past their warranty expiration is a complete nightmare on these vehicles.

"Don’t replace the intake. It’s gonna happen again". Reminds me of my brother when he was about 5 or 6. He would argue with our mom to not take a shower since it is a waste of time and money because he would get dirty again.
