I just picked up a 512GB M3 Pro 14" MacBook Pros in Space Black at my local BestBuy. I traded in a 13" M2 MacBook Air and a 13" M2 MacBook Pro, plus they matched their sale that ended two days prior, I got the laptop plus the BestBuy extended warranty with Apple care plus for a final price of $775. I absolutely love BestBuy and my new MacBook Pro.

Would love a comparison of the 14-inch base-model M3 MacBook Pro 14 and the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air.

I own the 2021 16” M1 Pro I don’t even bother with the new ones cos it does all I want 😊 And I still have the Apple coverage till 2025

I got the $2400 ($2300 in my case thanks to a Best Buy TotalTech discount) 12 CPU/18 GPU/1 TB M3 Pro 14 coming tomorrow, and I can't wait. I originally went for the 11/14/512 M3 Pro version, but since I want to experiment more with VMs and the Game Porting Toolkit, I figured the extra power and storage space would be more beneficial in the long run.

It’s a great value! Every one is saying oh it only has 8gb of ram so does the MacBook Airs,remember this model is replacing the 13’ MacBook Pro. This is meant for the average user that wants a bit more pro without the performance (loss of battery)and price of the M3 pro/max chip. So yeah every other laptop at this price comes with 16gb but you don’t get all the good hardware from the MacBook Pro compared to windows which most ‘not pro but want pro’ people need. Remember who this is meant for before complaining about it,if you want more buy the M1,2,3 pro chip.

I Just bought a 15 inch 2015 MacBook Pro. Love the apple glow. Runs amazing and anything that’s a bit heavier I use my M2 iPad Pro.

I like the performance boost of the M3 chips, but my computer budget says I can't justify upgrading from my M1 Pro MBP 14. Fortunately, with my use case, I don't really need to upgrade.

Will you be able to compare your practical usage / editing between this and the cheapest when you get it? Benchmarks are fine but seeing what real world performance differences you see are is helpful.

This would be way too much computer for my humble computing needs. I will stick with my 2020 MacBook Air, which I love. But I enjoyed this unboxing and I really like your content, so Thank you! 😊

Would it be a good upgrade from a 2015 11” MacBook Air i5, 4gb. I have been using it for a while and it’s starting to slow down and the battery is draining very quickly. Right now I just use it for schoolwork and very light coding in vscode and starting out on x-code on my m2 (base) Mac mini. Only problem with the Mac mini is the slow ssd but I can still do multiple tabs with no problems while coding, I know the MBP is lacking in ram but I’ve found one on sale new for $1299. Wondering if it was worth it since it has a fan for longer work loads and the screen, speakers, ports, camera, and mic upgrades.

Should I buy the M2 Ultra or the M3 Max 16"? They're almost the same price.

i think this one will be a hit amoungst the school crowd and those looking to get into the pro live. the 8gb is not a factor as the m chips do a great job in being effictent. only the reddit and youtube nerds complain about numbers on a peice of paper. no one else cares or will notice a difference. if you need or do pro stuff, you will get a more powerful mack

I just got the 16 inch M1 Pro chip MacBook Pro. 16/512 refurbished from Apple. Does it make sense to return it and get a base m3 MacBook Pro none pro chip 16/512? Only concern is the age of m1’s.

Gonna upgrade from my 12" MacBook which I got back in early 2016. Plan to buy just the base M3 14" with 16gb of ram. Since the jump from this to that would be phenomenal. I don't plan to play games on it since I have my own dedicated windows PC for that. So it's just for personal things like internet browsing and university work. Handy I can get the student discount too.

My very first Apple Mac was the 1984 Apple Macintosh computer with at $2,500.00 US price tag. Today adjusted for inflation cost of that original 1984 Apple McIntosh would be $7,405.90 US in October 2023. So Gary which technology is the best? My 1984 Apple Macintosh or any of the new M series Mac that you could purchase at a lower cost? Have to love it when young people talk about the cost of technology.

Any input on the real world performance difference between my current 2020 M1 MBP 16GB 2TB, the base M3 Pro 11 core CPU, 14 core GPU, 18GB or 36GB, 2TB for ~$2400, and a nearly fully specced M3 Max with 16 core CPU, 40 core GPU, 64GB, 2TB for ~$3900? I mainly do high resolution photo editing (importing upwards of 1000+ raw 45mp images per day), converting raw CR3 files to DNG, working in Adobe Photoshop (generative AI) and Lightroom, 4k video editing and color grading in DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro with Canon's enormous hard to work with H265 codecs. Along with general multi-tasking with all of these applications open at once, a dozen or more tabs in Chrome. All of these tasks seem to push my current 2020 MacBook Pro M1 16GB 2TB pretty hard, with tasks like DNG conversion taking 10+ minutes, imports in lightroom taking ages to load sometimes, some stutters and long renders while video editing.
