Would love to see some direct comparisons between this and the M1 Max Macbook Pro because right now you can find some good deals on it for a similar price to the M3 Pro. For instance B&H has a 14 inch M1 Max with 64gb ram and 2tb storage for $2600, compared to $2400 for a 14 inch M3 Pro with 18gb ram and 1tb storage.

If you're looking to get a 14inch, I'd honestly go for the m3 pro. The 14 inch chassis isn't really the best for the Max chip imo. Esp if you're considering trying out gaming on it. If you want an m1 Max I'd def recommend looking at the 16inch.

I'd say there's something very wrong with this video as I'm getting better results on M1 Max and about the same on M1 Pro. Maybe it's about memory limitations which is a huge bummer for those machines. I'd go 32gb in any case.

Hey. In one video I found they were claiming M3 graphic performance was different when unplugged. Not probably completely but maybe raytracing or other new functions are limited because of battery life. Could you look on that to prove or debunk that? Thanks

Notebookcheck posted a video on its "Additional Content" channel that shows some benchmarks with the 40-core GPU M3 Max. There's no audio, and all of the text within the games is in German so it's a bit harder to follow. All testing was done at 1440p. Cyberpunk was run at ultra settings with AMD FSR on quality mode, and it seemed to struggle getting out of the 30s. RE: Village generally looked to be about 30-40 percent faster than what Andrew showed so not nearly enough to justify essentially double the cost over the 18-core GPU M3 Pro.

Hey there ! I have a question for you! I saw a video about apple gpt frin you m2 pro. It had only a short snippet of ff7 remake in the sector 7 sluns. It was 4k 60fps shown while you were saying that some games in apple gpt run perfectly. Im a lil bummed to see that m3 pro struggles to get 40-50 on the same game.

One specific question I haven't been able to find a specific answer for: does No Man's Sky on macOS sync it's save data with Gamepass PC/Xbox saves? I presume it's limited to Steam, but couldn't find someone who had explicitly tested it.

@@Sussywussy64 They have been paying game studios to port a lot of games to metal. Given their more walled-garden approach to things, I think they'd prefer a more console-like approach where you have a limited number of GPUs to choose from. This is also more enticing to game devs as there's only a tiny number of different devices they need to test against (and most are similar enough that its likely that only one device per year will need serious testing and the others are mostly just sanity checks). I suspect a future version of their Mac Pro will have Apple-made GPUs that can go in the PCIe slots that they will charge tens of thousands of dollars for.

Hi Andrew, I get only 45fps in Cyberpunk same as you but I have the M3 Max chip with 30 GPU cores, how am I getting the same performance as your M3 Pro?? I have looked at a lot of tutorials and cannot figure it out, help please. I am currently using the trial of Crossover 23.7.1 and I followed your most recent Crossover installation tutorial I could find, what am I doing wrong??

Depends on your resolution and detail settings.

@@joshuag876 Also Cyberpunk added a new patch since I recorded my video, not sure if that makes a difference.

@@Andytizer ok thanks, maybe if I give it some time subsequent updates to crossover, Mac OS, or cyberpunk, will get my missing fps back.
