Served in the Army. Put many many miles on a M35A2 Deuce AND A HALF. Never once did I hear anyone call the vehicle a deuce. Deuce and a half. Deuce is what I left in the latrine pit.

Pretty good video of the Deuce! The Deuce is a great truck but there are some strikes against these trucks off road, first are the stock military NDT tires they are supposed to be able to run in many different types of terrain and they can and they suck equally in every one of them! ICE is the absolute nemesis of this type of tire! In the winter I just drove my Deuce a couple times and had to air the rear duals down to 25 PSI each to even move in snow and ice and that with the front axle locked in. Next the approach/departure angles of the truck are way to low especially with a winch on the front bumper, instant hang ups even in anything somewhat steep. Then we come to the dual wheels in the rear, TO MANY TIRES! NO ground weight, they suck in snow, and mud the worst because they have to cut to many tire paths and all the crap just builds up in front of the duals. Every other country in the world got rid of duals after WWII but the US didnt seem to learn very well. The trucks LDT 465 Multi fuel is a great engine but remember it produces only 134 HP the rest is made up for in gearing, people talk about wheel speed to keep the lugs clear of debris, well that is not possible with a deuce because you dont have enough HP to spin the tires and if you shift down for more power then your wheel speed is to slow! I know I have given lots of KNOCKS against the Deuce but I will surmise by saying they are GREAT trucks when used within their limits. Very reliable and have the ability to give years of very good service when serviced properly and like anything else when NOT abused!

duals give better traction since you have more rubber on the ground
@karlk68602 жыл бұрын
@@jimsmith9819 exactly the opposite Jim you have more rubber on the road with half the pounds per square inch. That is the reason every country in the world's military got rid of duals.

Cool video but A1 and REO were gassers not diesel so I believe this is a kaiser jeep or something along the lines of that make and it's an A2 unless he has it customized to have a diesel (Multifuel) in it which is very possible.
@priscillaschott56428 жыл бұрын
+TheBajanAmerican24 rather, it is an A1 with its diesel engine multifuel of originne with big turbo, the first models were gasoline and diesel engines have many summers mounted in the early 60s This one is original in its juice, to tires, mirrors, axles
@frenchyketchupyvilfroy55014 жыл бұрын
No, the A 1 we had the first multifuel diesel engines, it is entirely original (up to the tires, mirrors etc ..) He participated in Vietnam War "only the exhaust is model A2 because the output of origin is at face height and pavement side in town or agglomerations, but I have the original assembly at hand and the modification is not irreversible
