OK, brother, stick with the steel cable... I put synthentic cable on my winches and they turn into ice balls in the winter months after they get wet. I've been left in the cold a couple times... In the winter months, I put steel back on, now.

During rides on snow I try to always carry a shovel. I carry an old entrenching tool. Folds up small and almost indestructable. I learned my lesson a couple years ago when I chose the wrong side of the trail to get off on to turn around. High centered in 2+ feet of snow and not enough rope to extend my winch cable to the nearest tree. Only hands and feet to clear snow. Two hours later and soaked in sweat I was out. 15 or 20 minutes would have got it done with a shovel!

Good video.. I know you carry a rope.. you should look into getting a couple hundred feet of mule line. 3/4"flat is good for 2500 LBS. That amount of mule line will take up less room then the rope. Will get to the furthest tree with ease. You can order 500' spools or if you know an electrical contractor you may be able to score some from them. 👍👍for mentioning Matt’s off the road recovery. Almost as good as your channel.

I have the same stuff you have except that I have two soft shackles and a kinetic rope. I am also a fan of MORR and have learned a bunch about recovery from them. Honestly, I have used the winch way more times than the rope as I am usually recovering myself or winching a deer up a steep hill.

Respect for the tree savers and snatch block. A lot of people don’t care about the bark they tear. I find myself spending more time looking for trees in distress lately . I use to be the guy who would travel as far as I could to see all the views and I am still that guy but now I like spending time on the trails I’ve been looking out for what I love to ride in. Lately wood veins have been driving me crazy I have drove around so many and haven’t noticed them before and now I do. I make a mission to eliminate as many as I can now because i feel so bad I didn’t see them before. Water drainage is a big one too

Hey! Great video, I'm diggin' this series. I'm still new to the Grizzly and ATV world, so it's real helpfull to see what experienced riders carry along and how they use the gear in our neck of the woods. Thanks for sharing, and keep well!

Nice vids man. Please don't use a Soft Shackle the way you show in the video, the Ball end goes through the Noose part of the other end so it can tighten up, then you hook stuff up to the shackle anywhere else along it.

Did you get a kinetic rope yet? It's similar in principle to a sno-bungee, which is an absolute necessity on ski-doo. If you're going to be trying to pluck someone else out of a stuck, kinetic rope is soooo much better than static rope.
