Most of the reviewers on KZfaq must be used to upgrading their iPads every year or something, cuz most of them say that this new iPad Pro M4 is not worth the upgrade. I, myself was still using the 1st generation iPad Pro until last week, and found this new iPad Pro to be an absolute must after I bought it.

First gen pro like the one with the fingerprint button? Or the M1? I still have the fingerprint button pro 12.9 and it’s slow as molasses. The M1, I can’t make it sweat and would not upgrade. It’s still lightning fast.

Agreed. Should you buy the latest? It depends on what the alternative is. Is the alternative an ancient iPad? Is the alternative the previous model? Is the alternative a recent model with insufficient storage? Is the alternative not having an iPad? Is the alternative an iPad Mini that is too small for your tasks? It depends on what the alternative is.

Sorry. I do enjoy this channel, but you could play this review next to the first one and see zero difference. The title was “two weeks later” but all we got was the same tired discussion of the features. Nothing about how it performed in real-world scenarios, running real-world apps and in real world use-cases. For example, I went to a conference the other day and used just my 11” M4 iPad Pro to to take notes. The battery made it through the day and 1 hour flight home, but the range anxiety kicked in around 2pm and I started to shut the case when I wasn’t writing to conserve power. How about using it on long flights (you can simulate that) if you’re not going overseas. The weight difference does help with holding it while reading. How is it when you connect to difference displays? How is it when you turn ProMotion off to increase battery life. Does that change the writing experience? Does that increase the battery? I could answer all of these, but my point is y’all shouldn’t just create the same video with a different title. Dig deeper and think of what potential users might want to know before buying.

I just ordered the M 4 11 inch. I prefer Face ID, Pro Motion, the better screen. I have been to the Apple Store several times comparing the m4 pro 11 to the m2 Air. I went to identical dog photos. The display quality when comparing the dog photos was clearly better on the OLED screen. Very lifelike.

I actually got rid of an M1 iPad Pro 12.9” due to it being just too big & bulky for my needs at the time a little over a year ago. Well wouldn’t you know I walked into an Apple Store & tried out this 11” & immediately was smitten. I was all set to buy a new M2 Air but the screen just seemed off putting to my aging eyes. Zero issues with the tandem OLED screen on this 11” Pro. I instantly was hooked & knew I was leaving there with one. The reduced size & weight for me are just icing on a very sweet cake. I did however exercise a little common sense going for the base “poor man’s” model with only 256gb of storage & the 9 core CPU. Can’t say I’ve seen any issues with a binned M4 chip or non glare free screen.

The problem with most of those youtube reviewers is that they don’t have time to work with the tools they test. In the end, they just mostly consume, not using the deeper apps that can be used with them. Finally not helpful reviews. It’s better to check the pro reviews in your domain right away. Far helpful.

It doesn’t take two weeks to run into impossibly frustrating and crippling limitations on an iPad. It is literally good for taking notes, drawing, and watching movies. 2k dollars hardly justifies those things, especially when you can spend less on a MacBook.

I upgraded from a 2018 12.9 inch to a base 13 inch and it’s an amazing upgrade. I am annoyed that I had to upgrade my keyboard (especially because it’s just the magnets that won’t latch. If you line up the pins the old keyboard still works) but overall the new keyboard feels a lot better in terms of build quality, the hinge, it goes back further, the function keys are fantastic. The iPad itself feels like a massive upgrade. The oled display is stunning and I’m using it way more than I used my 2018 just because of the screen. The thinness makes it easier to use in your hands. I find myself taking it off the keyboard and using it like an iPad because it’s so much easier to hold and thinner. It definitely feels like I jumped 6 years into the future coming from the 2018. I would recommend the upgrade if you’re considering it. I hope that helps

Many reviewers already say eg Dave2D that 2018 iPads are more or less same use case experience to 2024 M4 iPads. The big difference will be at WWDC where Apple gate-keep AI on native to M4 chips only and the list of features is mostly gimmicky anyway at this point: Just use ChatGPT-4.0 via cloud anyway. Wait until Apple upgrades to a new OS on iPads then the new hardware can be put to full use. Only exception is pro artists where the cost is a business cost on return on investment and they want a portable work tablet.

TBH the only reason I see to upgrade is if you are a content creator/artist or use the iPad with external monitors (This was available for M1’s and up). Otherwise if all you’re doing is content consumption or writing notes, your iPad will do that just fine.

I purchased the 13” M4. Why? The larger display over my 11” Ipad air. (for my old eyes) The keyboard is a joy to use and is similar to laptops. It is easier to navigate the ipad with this new keyboard. I use the ipad for video and photo editing. I am learning Procreate so the new pencil is going to work out well. I’m not sure what future proof means these days. However, this new ipad is perfectly suited for my apps and other personal uses.

Upgraded from Air 5 and I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so blown away by a new Apple product. Anybody who says is isn’t about the OLED screen needs to have their eyes checked, because it’s ALL ABOUT the OLED display. The blacks are ridiculous. The color accuracy is fantastic. The edges are near perfect. They achieve crazy brighness with virtually 100% uniformity. This is the best display available anywhere on any device, Period. (Yeah, it’s THAT GOOD.)

I see a lot of reviewers who appear dismissive over the thinness. As a daily user, generally in tablet mode, on the go, taking notes when meeting with staff and clients, that ‘thinness’ equals serious weight reduction. And that weight reduction is far, far more valuable than additional battery life. 10 hours plus is more than sufficient, but the ability to be able to hold the 13” comfortably in hand and take notes - that is a real world improvement for pros, I’d suggest.

@@davidjacobs6244 Exactly Apple are such a bunch of AHs: They're flogging their native OS via the NPU so only released M4 iPads to market this at WWDC. Keywords: "FUTURE PROOF" ... 2 years from now this will still be a beast.. All things considered, if one needs justification for purchasing: Do I see my money back within a 2 -3 year time span with profit? I would say yes to anyone that wants a device that can have everything thrown at it and it still run super smooth... Ive taken mine over my lappy for the past few days and now leave my happy lappy on the desk.... I can print wirelessly if need be and perform all other office needs on it for 1/2 the weight 4X the speed.. I can't whip my laptop out to take a photo / video without having an exterior connected(How odd would that look 🫣). IF I'm knee deep in work and spot something while using the iPad , Eze money to catch a photo! The features coming in 9 days are going to make the fence toddlers turn into hurdle jumping grown folks within a few shakes... Love the review and advice as always!

I don't really care about MacOS on iPad but what is really annoying when using an external display is app limitations with filling the whole screen. Netflix for example; cannot go into full screen mode, your stuck looking at a bigger app but still see a few inches of the border. This shouldn't be decided on the app, iPad OS should have a setting to fill the screen. Making changes like this to enhance an iPad in docked mode would go a long way!

You have to buy all new accessories for the M4 which adds another $450 onto your price tag. The only reason I opted to upgrade was because my screen on my last tablet had shattered, so I felt obligated to. Other than that, it runs just the same, does everything else the same, doesn’t really blow my skirt up. Take care of your things.

I find that I use the ipad more than anything, from checking Ring camera alerts, to watching the tracking map of a delivery, reading news from all my regular sites (NOT the Fake News MSM), making MEMEs on the spot when an idea pops in my head. I love how I can screenshot and crop a pic or news story and post it almost instantly on my favorite X sites in seconds. I can instantly zoom in when the text is too small, (or push ads off the screen). I have the Firefox app but it's basically still Safari so I can't use Ad Block on youtube. ( I then have to use my Macbook Air with Firefox. I won't watch youtube without Ad Block.) But anyway, I was looking to upgrade to this M4 ipad but from what I've seen, it may not be worth it at this time. I do feel my old ipad is getting a bit sluggish or maybe I'm changing websites too much too quickly. The plan was to also upgrade my wifi to 6e for the M4 ipad. When I plug an ethernet directly into my old ipad there is a bit of a boost, so my wifi is likely slowing it down. I've just about worn out the battery, having to recharge at least twice a day now, but at least it recharges to 100% pretty fast.

I upgraded from 10.5" Pro to 11" M4 Pro mainly because of very shoddy battery life on 10.5". Other than that for casual content viewers and light game playing for users like me, I don't see a great user experience change between the two. The 10.5" was still fast enough for these applications. Yes the newer screen is better but you get used to whatever you are using. Face ID does not work if you are close to screen such as reading in bed. While I and users like me would probably be happy with an Air, the Pro improved sound is a big deal to me. New Pro has battery health indicator display which is a welcome change, not sure if this was just implemented for this model or has been there for awhile but not present in my 10.5". What you said about the tmobile cellular model is on point and not to be an ad or anything but seriously right now if one adds a iPad line to their plan mobile is taking $230 off the iPad you want which is how I got the M4 iPad Pro 11' inch for $200 less and my overall bill only went up by $18 for the insurance that I choose (you can get apple care but it doesn't cover lost or stolen items where as tmobile coverage does) and the 5G is very good too so no more wifi only iPads for me.

Display is waay better if you are using it in bright sunshine. Usable vs not usable. If you do that, it could be worth the upgrade. Although, at these prices, its not really a good value proposition for almost everyone.

No, WWDC will use native M4 on chip Ai which are nice gimmicky improvements but fundamentally still extremely limited by iPadOS. You can find a list of the Ai on board features easily via a quick google search. Your current iPad probably won't get the new AI features for the M4 chip in part due to the NPU but also Apple's shitty gate-keeping of new features for new hardware also. Just wait a few years until Apple launches an entirely new OS then it will be worth splashing out with all the new AI mature by then on native as well as cloud.

No just go for a cheap refurb or 2nd hand and save money. The M4 was only ever about Apple advertising AI at WWDC to keep up with Windows/Snapdragon (it will almost certainly gate-keep the new native ai features on M4 only). But the new AI features are mostly gimmicky while iPadOS is still the same on all models, go cheap and wait a few years until Apple launches a whole new OS then it will be worth it. Until then the hardware is high price for low utility given the software is legacy OS aka BabyOS.

I have a 2018 iPad Pro and every time Apple releases an updated version I compare the two. I have not seem much of a difference no matter how many times Apple claimed it’s “amazing”. I am looking to upgrade now as my battery is still good but not as good as a new model. Every time I go into look at the 2024 model I hear that it’s incredible thin, “WHO CARES”! The 2018 model is thin what difference does a couple of mm make! NONE! Squeeze some more battery in there or something! Still looking to upgrade but do I want to spend £2600! Probably! Please stop advising people that they don't need to buy the M4 iPad, this is a very wrong advice. My advice is upgrade every time Apple makes a major upgrade, and the new OLED panel and M4 chip are truly major upgrades along with the new Magic keyboard, if you buy an iPad and plan to hold on to it for a long period of time then you have to buy this one so u don't feel outdated in one or 2 years, i upgrade my iPad every 5-6 years even if mine is still working decently but the major upgrades are worth it and keeps you future-proof

It’s the same battery to be honest. I got the 11 inch and we get about 2-3% more battery time than the 13 inch, but to be honest they should have kept the thickness and increased battery life. And on top of that I am using the 80% battery limit which makes it last even less 😂 but it’s a great iPad. I am going to be testing the low power mode to see how much battery improvement it makes. I can keep you posted

@@pskyvideo 11 inch hands down, the only advantage you get with 13 inch is for documents as you get more height. Overall I would say when watching a movie, you get about 10% more screen real estate on the 13. I would go for the 11 for that reason, + better battery + lighter to hold in the hand. I don't recommend updating your iPad to the M4 version. I spent almost 2k to do so and all the feelings I have are anger at Apple again. I had a great keyboard with my previous iPad Pro. The only keyboard you can get now is the 299/349 dollar versions which are extremely heavy and bulky. Apple is attempting to replace their laptops with iPads and this is yet another plan from Apple to force us to do what they want. They discontinued the wonderful thin cloth like covered keyboard which allowed an A-frame stand while you are on a couch or in bed. Now the only two versions of covers you can get is the extremely bulky and heavy keyboard which is meant only for a desk top or a tri fold cover that doesn't allow for rigid A-frame standing of the iPad while on a couch or in bed. Many of us use the iPad on other than desk top use. Today, Apple doesn't even understand what millions of customers do with their products nor what we want. I regret updating every item I buy from Apple now. 1500 dollars every time I get a new iPhone Pro and I can't tell a single difference. The software is broken EVERY time they release it. Tim Cook needs to go. He's proven ten fold that he is not a competent CEO. He is disconnected from his programmers and quality control. He is disconnected from his design team. Look at the wireless fingerprint keyboard. The Space Grey (not Space Black) metal has been out for years yet there is no fingerprint operated extended wireless keyboard for Space Grey laptops. He removed the ratings from all Apple products on the Apple.com shop. Why? Becuase he is very low character thats' why. If I had read all this about the product I would have never bought it. Today we have to stop buying accessories until we get the main product becuase there is a 75% chance you'll want to return it all.
