the only thing that will make me buy an iPad Pro again is if it comes with Mac OS. Until then is just an oversized iPhone

I don't give a toss about Ai, thinner case, watered down apps, camera position or screen tech. The more powerful the silicon gets, the more crippled it feels with a modified phone OS. By all means keep iPadOS for all the small consumer devices, but give us the option of macOS on 13" plus devices. It's the very reason I use my MacBook Pro 14" with a pen tablet because the OS is lacking support for pro apps. A pen works great in macOS, so a pencil as a pointing device would be a no-brainer on the iPad Pro 13".

I’ve noticed that with more and more “applications“ being web-based, those sites still know that you’re running on an iPad versus a desktop and the web experience, a lot of times is broken. They’re just some sites that I can’t really access or get full capabilities when visiting from my iPad Pro compared to using my MacBook Pro. I’ve even had some websites display messaging when viewed on an iPad that in order to get full capabilities, I must view from a desktop device. And even when I request desktop, I still get the same results.

Apple chips are already powerful, what is needed right now is better software....not this Rigid IpadOS/IOS.

There are a myriad of professionals using the iPad Pro in their work… I have even seen DJ’s with multiple iPad’s instead of a traditional setup… For basic use the iPads clearly gets more use than the MBP. The VP gets used a lot now too, however, it tends to get used in conjunction with the MBP often… We are in the market for a a new iPad Pro, and if there is a Mini Pro, we may get one of those too… 🤔

The problem with any iPad is you cannot see what is on the screen in daylight - it is too dark even on maximum brightness and changing any of the settings does not help. Will the forecast OLED screen solve this?

I have a maxed out 11 inch M1 iPad Pro with 16GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. I use it daily for everything. I also have an M1 MacBook Pro that almost never use except for when using Logic. The only reason I don’t use the iPad Pro For Logic is because I can’t use my 3rd Party Plugins otherwise I’d ditch the MacBook Pro and go all iPad. I will be upgrading to the new Pro model. I upgrade every 2 years and the reason is because of the battery. When you use the iPad as much as I do the battery starts to degrade after a couple years.

I own an Ipad pro and a Macbook pro, I like the macbook more. Better screen, better sound, more options, better file manager, no fingerprints on the screen, it's just so much better!!

iPad OS is here to stay. iOS 2.0. iOS is the beta tester by iPhone users and the bugs are squashed for iPad OS. That’s what I have noticed. iPad Pro 2021 (M1) is still great and won’t be replaced until I get a newer iPad Pro at an awesome on sale affordable price.

The idea here is to keep m3 or m4 processor with large battery in the screen and the keyboard will contain a pure gpu processor and battery so it will be versatile for both MacBook Pro users and iPad pro users.. ?? Of course it may loose certain bandwidth when connecting it to the keyboard but the idea is from surface pro...

The efficacy of the new iPad M4 may diminish in the presence of an M1 processor, as they will exhibit analogous characteristics - resembling a sizable iPhone attempting to emulate the functionality of a laptop. Its prospects seem unfavorable unless it incorporates an identical operating system to that of a MacBook.

Completely agree that iPadOS needs to get closer to macOS in terms of capabilities. Not sure if we need a full-blown macOS but, and I know I am in the tiny minority in this, what I need is a command-line shell w/ access to all files on the device and being able to mount network file systems etc. I do lots of file management every day in zsh or bash and it would be extremely painful for me to do that using any kind of GUI. But, in general, I'd certainly welcome macOS or something very similar on an iPad.

So M3 is more satisfied? We cannot save the iPad with 7 days before it releases. Why it need to be saved since iPad is not meant to be Mac in the first place. Gaming also requires power too.

Agree with much or what you say, I love my iPad but I simply don't/can't do the more involved work I do on my 5K iMac. I just can't do without a real desktop and directory/filing system. It grates me how file names are often 'truncated' in iOS app files lists, moving around files can be just so clunky in iOS, etc. But I appreciate that you can't just 'port over' Mac OS to the iPad, cos' the UI is just so different, it's a hard nut to crack IMHO. Maybe a dual operating system is the way to go, ie. those who just don't want to see a desktop and power filing system never have to deal with it...

They could use an M100 instead of an M4, but if they still use iPhone software on iPads, it's just a test of the customers' intelligence! Having the price and weight (with the pencil and Magic Keyboard) as well as the performance of a MacBook Pro laptop, while using iPhone software (incorrectly called "iPad OS"), is merely a test of intelligence for customers who don't think for themselves. Apple has a historic opportunity to save the iPad (Pro) by allowing MAC OS (or some version of it) on the iPad, and if they don't do it now, it will be a big disappointment and the downfall of the iPad!

m3 is actually refurbished m2 and has heating issue. no one cared about macbook pro with m3 . that's why apple started renaming m3 to m4😂 all are about advertising

Let Loose, M4? Well they said all new Macs will get the M4 going forward, It would be CRAZY if the 13" iPad Pro would run MacOS but only when you attach the Magic Keyboard yes the expensive keyboard that is also getting an update, So you have to pay up for the 13" and buy the keyboard. Would people pay up for the Apple Keyboard attachment and the 13" iPad Pro? Yes, yes they will. This would not hurt MacBook sales because it's going to be as profitable or more profitable. But, the thermals? can they pull that off? I think they can, will they..they do say Let Loose, that would certainly let the iPad loose!

I agree with you that the M series iPad Pro is the optimal form factor for computing, but its biggest problem is iPad OS. iPad OS cripples the excellent technical capabilities of the M series iPad Pro to be an oversized iPhone in a walled garden ecosystem of mostly mediocre smart phone apps. My M1 12.9-inch iPad Pro will never replace a laptop, because I can't run a full-blown coding IDE, VMs etc on it, easily side load apps, or format, repair, and image external SSDs / memory cards. I did have some workarounds where I could run UTM on it standalone, but iPad OS 17 came along and made side loading even more difficult. The only crumb of comfort is Apple has allowed emulators back into the App Store, but how long will that last? The iPad Pro remains the most pointless Apple product and needs a touch-based variant of Mac OS to make it world class. I won't be replacing my M1 iPad Pro with the new M3 / M4 iPad Pro unless Apple does some drastic with its OS. My money's on a Windows 11 arm tablet with the Snapdragon X Elite processor. Having used Windows 11 arm for the past 15 months daily, it finally where it needs to be, meets all my computing needs, and feels like a desktop class OS for grownups unlike iPad OS.

The iPad doesn’t need saving lol. I make almost 200k just using my iPad for the past 3 years💁 it’s the person that makes the device do great things. And stop with the Mac OS on iPad, if you want Mac OS, get a MacBook 💁
