Thank you guys for watching my first video, this video will be part of a series of videos rebuilding this M42b18 with the goal of building a strong, forged, turbo engine for my drift car.
Yes I should have bought a 6 cylinder but I didn´t want to so deal with it.

I have a 2.8L car & a 1.8L car. The 6 goes like hell but feels heavy and overworked. The 318 feels nimble, revvy, and fun. It won’t win any drag races, but it’s so much more enjoyable to drive. Bore it to 86.4mm, get 4 S52 pistons, Put in an 88mm crank from the M47 along with some custom 138mm carillos. Then slap on a set of ITB’s from an S14 and BAM! A 200+HP 2045cc S42. Add 5K to value of car. The new engine literally pays for itself.

No, you shouldn't have bought a 6 cylinder, don't listen to other people pressuring you. The M42 is completely forged, it is a great engine to build.

Mine has 280k on it, used hard for track and drifting. Just now devolved lifter tick

Hi thnx for the video . I took of the head on my m42 engine but there was no washers just the head bolts!! Any ideas ?

Is it necessary to put the timing marks to remove the tensioner?

No, it's not, just be careful for it not to skip a tooth

Boas! Tenho um m42b18 tambem e nao consigo descobrir quandos sensores knock ou sensores de detonação ha no “nosso” motor Sera que me consegues dizer? Obrigado e continua com os bons videos

Boas, se vires o meu segundo vídeo, no minuto 4.19 eu retiro os knock sensors que são dois e para lá chegares é mais fácil se tirares o coletor.
