I live in Suffolk & at times I have had to work up in Lancashire at one of our depots & when travelling up I always use the M6 Toll motorway because not only does my company finance the toll but the existing M6 does snarl up very easily around the Birmingham junctions & I think it is a price worth paying just to keep moving. I understand the Toll motorway is quiet, who wants to be relieved of £5.50 when they would rather sit it out in a traffic jam on the existing M6?! The Toll motorway surface is interesting too. So much for the 'Smart Motorway' conversions it still logjams from time to time & will only get worse as time goes on! I would use the M6 toll Motorway any day, it is a price worth paying if heading north of Birmingham!

My school has only ever used this once on a school trip, but my parents usually take the busy M6

They should build more toll motorways like this. I'm pretty sure an M4 Toll was planned to bypass Newport and Cardiff. A Dartford Crossing replacement could be constructed with a toll, and the existing one could be removed.

I go back and forth from Essex to Manchester and I always use the toll - its so much easier and worth the money if you ask me! great video!

I don't know how much this road costs (as in construction costs, not the how much you have to pay when you travel on this) but assuming an average of 65,000 vehicles every day paying £5.50. This meant that on average, motorists pay £357,500 every day or £130,487,500 a year. And if your talking about since the road opened, £2 billion. I think it's too expensive. The reasonable price for this £2. Also the Severn bridge tolls on both bridges have been removed now

I used to live in the Cannock Chase area and remember the construction of the M6 Toll (all those roadworks at each end on the old M6!) and getting leaflets through my door.

I was based on site during the construction of this road for about 2 years. I feel I know it better than any other road although I live 60+ miles away and don't use it that much.

I always use the m6 toll as I think the money is worth it to drive on a well maintained fast motorway and not be stuck in queues!

It's much nicer to use, now you can pay via contactless-- you're only a few seconds at the toll booth now. It's a lot quicker than using the A5 (the original M6 is a few miles longer if you're heading north on the M42). Also I gather you get charged the full amount, if you don't drive the full length of the M6T

I see that it's likely these signage structures that was the main inspiration for vanilla UK in Euro Truck Sim 2. I knew they had to be somewhere.

The M6 is now a smart motorway so the traffic flow is probably better than when the M6toll first opened.

So this is what the West Midlands and neighbouring counties including Warwickshire and Staffordshire wanted for heavy traffic to avoid the cities of Birmingham and Wolverhampton. When the M6 motorway gets very busy through Birmingham. The M6 Toll is really a great motorway and is the first ever "Toll Motorway" in the UK. Plus it should be called "West Midlands Expressway".

Exorbitant cost, most of the time the lanes are empty. Am local and see it from above on a traffic island.

A great road. If y1ou're prepared to pay for the privilege, it makes for a very reliable journey time and has a most pleasant services. The lack of queuing is very welcome too if you're driving an old Mini which can run a little hot at times

Driving from BHX to Wroxeter in June on holiday. Is M6Toll the best way to go?

I like this motorway but once opened the a38 and a5 detrunking sucked as it gave local authorities reasons to slow those roads down almost to force you to use it. I had emailed the company that built it years ago to ask why they built the roundabout junctions between Minworth and Bassetts Pole and they said it was to stop speeding bikes!

I just can’t fathom why it rejoins the m42, it should go all the way to the m40. As it is you just pay for an express ticket to sit in the traffic at Solihull.

Living in the area I have compared travel times on a number of occasions. Average time saved eight minutes. For me it’s just not cost effective. Best don’t say what I think of the toll booths when riding a motorcycle.

Used m6 toll couple of times far easier than getting snarled up around m6 m5 I nterchange

M6 Toll is certainly a waste of money I don’t get why they just built it before they had the idea to do so
