Sable Liger: Does yours still have the cover over the front sight well? If not, it may be resting in the well of the retract (detente) button instead. And it jammed the rod. If yours is like that don't ask me why it had turned out that way. I can't imagine how that could happen without an intention.

The front eights contain radioactive promethium so are always discarded after use

The front sight was missing , I've used 20 gauge steel sheet to cut and fold a holder for the polycarbonate window with red permanent marker for the line. It's based on a modern sight, the period accurate was all steel with metal tabs to mark elevation.

My tube had an internal plastic block that engage a metal tab on the firing mechanism, that keeps the safety in place

I used an genuine one that was still on one of the tube I had, it was damaged (cut) but nothing cyanoacrylate glue couldn't fix

There are very accurate files for the rockets

I found a template for the english version and made a french version from it, I can send you the files if you want. Then I went with a laser color printer and regular heavy paper, had the tune the color profile of the printer to match the paint. Soaked the back of paper with glue and the front with matte varnish.

99% of time that was due to failing to extend the tube to align the trigger contacts. You had to extend it with force.

Not if the launcher is intact, the inner tube is permanently pinned to the small metal "rail" that slides in the upper rectangular box section. This rail is pinned to inner parts that are too large to come out from the rear opening of the upper section. Notably, the front sight's cover slides in the wider section and makes a hard stop near the safety where it's narrower.

You are correct, those are spent tubes, they were recovered after being "demilitarized" (meaning trashed beyond repair), they would NOT be safe to reuse.
