Maajid Nawaz argued with a caller and insisted that it's important to recognise that grooming gangs are disproportionately Muslim.
Maajid spoke to a caller, Daniel, about the revelation that the Rotherham police chief ignored the sex abuse of children because of a fear of racism.
The caller thought Maajid Nawaz was comparing "apples and pears" when he "kept mentioning Muslims".
Maajid Nawaz provided statistics about grooming and sexual exploitation, citing Rochdale, Rotherham, Oxford, Bristol, Aylesbury, Newcastle and Peterborough as examples.
Maajid said: "The pattern in all of these, overwhelmingly, is South Asian Muslim men, primarily Pakistani, sometimes Somali Muslims, sometimes North African Muslims.
"It doesn't help us Daniel to pretend this wasn't a phenomenon that was replicated across the country."

I am a Muslim woman of Somali origin and I wholeheartedly agree with Maajid. In Bristol the 13 convicted groomers where of Somali background. They should not have received prison sentences. Instead, they should have been hanged for their crimes against the defenceless young girls they victimised. Britain should bring back the death penalty

I hate the term “Asian Grooming Gangs”. The people that were involved in grooming gang were of Pakistani origin, using the term “Asian Grooming Gang” throws Indians, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Chinese, Thai, Indonesia, Korean, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Iranian, Taiwanese and many more under the bus.

I'm originally from rochdale and I wasn't surprised at all, in my experience the Pakistani community especially the young and middle aged men look down on the native population and are extremely arrogant. We left because of this.

This was amazing to see. Finally this brave man is confronting the problem for what it is and being 💯 truthful. He is seeing the stats and data and not letting his emotions take control. We need more of this in MSM worldwide and not just around this subject. It needs to be addressed in exactly the same way. The data and stats should be seen for what they are. Happens in Leicester too. Same culprits. Back when I was at school and still going on now to my sister's generation who is in school. What isn't out in public is how many non Muslim Asian girls are targeted. Hindus, Sikhs etc. I know generally we don't really discuss these issues with our parents as they're generally conservative and boys/dating isn't openly discussed. We were all too scared to report for this same reason - in case our parents found out. But many, many non Muslim Asians were targeted are still targeted today. Thank you Majid for speaking up for all of us.
