I think the team did right thing by not adding unnecessary backstory for CM. Knly first 30 minutes is slow, but rest of the movie is perfect, even if it is long.

director has tried to attempt well but couldve done better. feel he should have explained the time loop in the intro scenes somehow, that would have made it better for the audience. I've never seen a time loop movie, so it was difficult to understand it completely while watching the movie esp. the portions how & when SJ suriya gets into the time loop and how that affects SJ suriya. whole time they show the movie only from simbu's perspective..suddenly after the interval, they show SJ suriya also is in a time loop. some portions were really confusing. overall, it was a good attempt in a tamil movie which may think other directors also to try something different than grinding the same flour.

@@sln7839 The time loop concept was added to the movie in the middle of the movie shoot i don't know if it's true i read it somewhere so they were not able to explain it with plot in the first half and explaining it with a background voice is not that good as it will make the immersive feel less prominent so yeah if you watch the movie again you may like it but at the end it is just personal preferences

Nevermind Me yeah true. If i watch again will be able to pick more nuances. Later i noticed SJ explains when he got into the loop. I understood that only when watching that scene again. Their explaining time loop should not be like a voice over but should have been part of the screenplay after simbu gets into it and comes out of it. He should’ve told that im getting into a time loop every time I die..when SJ dies, they should have shown that he’s also getting into it. They should’ve shown from both points of view in the first half. If they decided half way thru they should’ve reshot certain scenes and altered the screenplay. It was definitely a appreciable effort in tamil cinema which will make the directors un future to try out new genres…

This review is a little example of how much he knows about cinema. The motivation for simbu was to prevent a Hindu Muslim communal violence. It was never about the CM.

From the first scene it was engaging.. There was no unnecessary repeats if u clearly observe..zero Glamour,zero lag, no unnecessary songs..Even the fight sequence was like we playing in PlayStation..with multiple lives we would come with the strategy..so the fights were also logical... Movie of the year/Decade

Please understand that he doesn't want to save the CM (there are dialogs supporting this as i doesn't want the CM to be dead in the Maanadu instead let the group kill him some other way like giving poison or by pushing him from somewhere). The only reason he wanted to save CM is to avoid the chaos which will portray a specific group of people as terrorist... that is the reason in some loops he just avoided saving the CM and concentrated only on stopping the mass chaos... Later he realises that stopping CM from attending Maanadu is the only way to stop this and tries to save him.... So the detailing about the CM is not needed here.. Let him be good CM or bad CM, he should not attend the Maanadu to prevent the mass chaos planned by YG and Team... So the purpose for his loop is either to stop the chaos and keep the unity or to save CM.... if one purpose is served then another one is a collateral.... Yes I didn't expect commercial cringe. villain killed in usual Tamil cinema way. Simbu easily enters cm house. Even police don't carry weapons into cm house but villain has it. Climax scene was easily predictable. Much disappointed but happy to see the lead for part two.

Unpopular opinion. In both the films master and maanaadu, the hero character had a better arc than the villain character. Sorry but this is my opinion. In terms of performances too, the hero characters of both these characters needs vulnerability and both of these actors Vijay and Simbu brought that beautifully in both these films respectively in Master and Maanaadu. Btw, Both villain characters played by Vjs and Sjs were quite impressive though as both of them took of them took two different roots to show their villainism. But I respect your opinion too bro.
