1. The fact is that Sivakarthikeyan had fear on going to deep water more like Thalassophobia...As the story, In order to overcome this he itself committed to do act on that ocean ship scene of 40ft deep water source. 2. The story narration on background voice is actually Jaby's fav. Vijaysethupathy(VJS).

At the beginning of the movie, it was shown that great warrior rescued princess (in Tamil - Ilavarasi) from the fortress in comic. And in climax hero (who became great warrior) rescued the child named ilavarasi. Interestingly, the child had earlier told the hero at the movie’s start that his portrayal of the princess wasn’t accurate, and the child’s claim actually came true in the climax.

Sarita is a wonderful actress. Heroine of 80s and 90s. Well known for her natural acting and dialogue delivery. She worked as dubbing artist for so many heroines also.

The bad guy is Mysskin. Incredibly talented director himself. And I am surprised you didn’t credit Vijay Sethupathi, the narrator.

Action director is Yannick Ben he also did stunt choreography in Jawan. The director Madonne Ashwin is a gem its just his second film. First film was Mandela with Yogi babu as lead. It won several national awards. You should watch it. Madonne Ashwin and Lokesh Kanagaraj are friends so they have very similar style of filmmaking. Loki gave him many tips for Maaveeran.

Glad to hear you liked the movie…..did u observe the similarity between the Hero & the Antihero listening to voices on both sides…..the villain has the voice as his friend who moderates his villainy whereas the Hero has the voice in his head trying to overcome his cowardice…..then there is Yogibabu the comedy element having his own voice in his head which urges him to drink every evening……i loved the fresh approach in story telling and screenplay. All in all a home run for Siva as Jaby rightly mentioned & i feel the director is one special one to look out in the future.👍🏻

I see that Jaby is an artistic fan of Yogi Babu. Wanna watch different version of Yogi Babu, then do watch “Mandela”. He plays the lead role in it and you could have never foreseen it. Indeed he is a great and natural talent.

Sad that some westerner found the nuances of this film and appreciate this much.. But here in tamil nadu, while this movie had a decent run, it didnt became a great hit or blockbuster.. Still his SK's crappy Don is highest grosser.. Such great ideas, great stunt work, good acting, music and choreography all makes it a very good watch.. One thing for director madonne ashwin, the climax could have been made much clearer for the audience what he was actually conveying..but that doesnt takeaway from what becomes this film a most satisfying watch..

I just wanna say Tamil cinema also does more masala movies like Telugu cinema but beyond that Tamil cinema is known for bringing some experimental projects too Not in all Tamil movies the hero is a perfect guy or badass, even star actors like Surya and Vikram acted in Handicap character and metally ill character and even Vijay Sethupathi acted as a transgender and you know Kamal Haasan's own movie "Anbe Sivam" which you have watched a year ago where he himself portrays himself as an weird uncle character with unattractive appearance So these kind of films also come in Tamil cinema

A special shout out should go to Yannick Ben, the man behind the phenomenal action sequences and choreography as he was the stunt director for this movie. He has notably performed as a stunt performer in many hollywood, bollywood and kollywood films like, Dunkirk, Ghost in the Shell, Transporter 3, as Suriya's double in 7aam Arivu, Irumugan, Raees, Race 2 etc. But now he's stepping into the Stunt Director role and he is doing an awesome job. Notably this movies and next up is Sharukh Khan's Jawaan and Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram.

The villain guy in this movie is also a director, I think his name is Myskin (probably spelt his name wrong), he's the one who advised the director of this movie to add a love interest for the hero. That's how the actress role got added into the script. Evidence in a Maaveeran Suntv (?) interview with some of the cast. By the way, I'm so so so happy that you guys reacted to Sivakarthikeyan's movie and enjoyed it, too 🥹☺️. I'm a fan of Sivakarthikeyan, so this reaction makes me so happy. This was a very fun and different movie. This movie was very different than a normal superhero movie. Action and Comedy in the movie was top notch. This is one of the best action movie in India which has great choreography and very good camera work. Action was stylised but still felt real. Sivakarthikeyan have very great comic timing. Movie also shows some of social elements like misuse of power and miscommunication among society and also how on the name of better life we are given life of adjustment. Again Yogi Babu as always made me laugh in this movie. Movies like Minnal Murali and Maaveeran shows that Indians are capable of making great quality superhero movies just this genre have to be exlored more. Jaby it made me very happy that you mentioned Upgrade. That is a great movie but it didn't do well commercially and also not recognised by many people. So thank you for that. Jaby i would like to see reaction from Michael, Hayley, Carolina, Natasha or Luqanne of RRR if they have not seen it already.

It is so nice to see the both enjoy the movie so much, yes i also hope others from the channel watch it too. And one more problem with the hero SK was that he mostly choose family oriented commercial film, it's a full family entertaining in comedy journer.... So the ending if you observe is similar to the comic ending narrated in the beginning including name of the character that’s held up in the building. Also when Siva breaks down at the terrace, scratching the character he drew venting how he would beat the bad guys if he has power. That’s exactly how he ends up beating them in the following fight.

The antagonist role is done by across Mysskin. You've already watched him act in Super Deluxe. The role of the guy who escaped from the Chennai tsunami disaster. He is also a very good director who, in his interviews have always credited Kurosawa etc and says how he sends off people who come to him to work as assistant director, to first read a bunch of books. You must have watched some of his movies, I remember. Maybe check his filmography as a Director. I kinda remember you've watched Thupparivaalan/ Yuddham Sei/ Onayum Aattukkuttiyum. If not, you should definitely start with Yuddham Sei or Anjaathe.

In the climax the one who wakes up was not the maaveran, it’s the narrator who woke, technically the maaveeran has died, that’s why the narrator can’t hear anything.

Sarita is the great actress, at least in my opinion. Tamil Director K. 17:13 Balachander, who introduced Sarita to film industry with his film 'Maro Charitra' (kamalahasan as hero), said once that I cannot keep camera running focused on an actor in close shot for nearly 3 to 5 mts, except Sarita ( he didn't mention even about Kamalahasan though K.Balachander considers Kamalahasan as great actor). So Sarita is the best Indian Actress. You should watch her acting. Her films: 1. Angi Sakshi (wherein she portrayed as schizophrenia patient and which got her that comment from K. Balachander). 2. Thaneer Thaneer, 3. Thappu Thaalangal (with Rajinikanth). Particularly ladies should watch her in these movies and should appreciate. I think they are available on KZfaq freely.

The level of foreshadowing in this movie is freaking crazy. The ending (building crumbling scene) mirrored the opening scene where the magician/wizard destroys the palace (he destroyed the building due to his greed) and him ending up saving the princess (ilavarasi in Tamil translates to princess) using a long line of cloth (which Sathya did so to save ilavarasi, the little girl). And secondly, when Satya runs off to the roof before he (attempts to) commits suicide he utters "He (Maaveeran) then tore off the face of the engineer (the one who misbehaved with his sister) with glasses (or something along this lines)" while scribbling over Maaveeran's portrait on the terrace wall (which he says from the narrator's perspective and the same words are uttered by the narrator later in the movie), which literally happens the same way not once but twice in the movie. This ties back to what Nila(Satya's love interest) said to Satya before Satya realised that the building is gonna collapse. Nila said that his power is his voice and it has always been him who was the narrator in his mind, which lines up with what Rick told in the end that Satya ended up doing what his consciousness wanted him to do. It is a superpower? Yes. But if you think about it, it was his subconscious which he had suppressed all along until his death gave way for it to (kind of) take over. This film is pure genius. The CGI was a bit iffy since the movie was released at an earlier date than it was supposed to. It was supposed to release on august 10 but it released earlier cause of Jailer. Maybe that’s why they didn’t have time to render the scenes properly.
