@@DaxRaider well it might not help him a lot now because he's not quite able to execute everything correctly and often his teammates will not be ready for plays, but creating good habits early while learning the game is much easier and more helpful longterm than just playing the game, automatically creating bad habits and then later trying to get rid of them.

this was a nice coaching session. I can't relate to other comments, they sound mad to me. It's good that Mac taught you actual macro concepts instead of obsessing over details in the micro like how to get in one more auto attack. And then they say with a straight face that you should go let Baus teach you how to run it down your lane instead ICANT

He's already said before in comments and on live is that the reason he is intentionally not having any map awareness is that he is concentrating on his champs kit and the enemy champs kit and everything else in-between while learning the game because he is extremely new to the game and is playing a champ for the very first time, or in this case the first few times.

I don't understand what people's problems are towards Mac. Pretty sure the ones whining like a broken record "solo q and pro play are different" are hardstuck irons, bronzes or silvers who will most probably get outplayed hard (read clapped) by Grubby already, and needless to say doesn't have a millionth of an idea about league that Mac does.

funny how mac things we'll make fun of him about sweepers. Bro thats not even the top 10 things to complain about. the coaching has grown a bit on me but many things i just dont think is very good for low to even mid elo. like the scanning when inside your own jngl is good, but he doenst mention when he should do it. Many times enemies can even get there, and scanning in river before a gank, or when invading is more important. even in mid elos people will ward their own jngls or at least the entrance to them. Also thing i hated most is that grubby never presses tab and mac never makes him press it. I can kinda get why he wouldnt as the players he coaches does it so much and he doesnt play so he doenst press it but still going a whole game constantly without ever pressing tab is like... During my first 5games of league i pressed tab more times than grubby has ever done. The thing i do like, is he does give some high level coaching, that even as a mid lvl player im reviewing/learning things too. The basics probably arent that important to grubby since he probably knows them already but just needs to apply it to lol, but it still does feel like we are skipping a few steps. cant wait to see alois coach.

Taking advice from proplay into solo queue is like taking nascar drivers advice on how to drive on the street. In practice a lot of these are going to be completely useless. Especially when the Nascar driver doesn't even know what one of the cars (Briar) does. Bard is not a good champ to learn the game, chat is right about that.

Not necessarily. He's teaching him a lot of macro and efficiency, and not focussing on how to kill the enemy, here's your auto reset, engage now cuz his ability on cooldown, etc. To be honest, grubby already knows how to drive in your example as he's very used to the other Moba's, and much transfers.

Man it really sucks to say this but this guy was not a good coach at all! He was mostly vibing and laughing. During the pre game session he barely knew the answers to most of the questions Grubby had, and outright didn't know any specifics, like how much a tower plating is worth in different lanes. How does a professional coach not know that? I swear streamers like baus and Alois know so much more than this guy about basic concepts. He seems to care a lot more about drafting, which is perfectly ok for his job, but is not the knowledge that a new player needs.

@@BrovarSpirytus pretty much this. He doesn't need to know those basics as his players all know the details. I see a different problem here. Alois and Pobelter will teach him way more i think.

@@BrovarSpirytusI know, that's why I said "which is perfectly ok for his job" - his knowledge fits his work needs but it is not something fit for Grubby. But honestly I'd also expect a good coach to adapt their style to what the student needs. Or just to not propose a partnership since that's not something he knew how to do. And to reiterate the main point: "which is perfectly ok for his job, but is not the knowledge that a new player needs." This just feels like the ultimate version of chat telling Grubby to learn high level mechanics while he is reading a champ description for the first time.
