Daniel Johnston so sad to hear about ur friend... looking back when he was alive and the months or weeks leading up to his passing ... what - if anything- would u have done differently? If this is too much pls, my all means just say so- I only ask to bring some consciousness and concrete understanding to such a sensitive taboo topic -I think we can learn from each other’s experiences

@Daniel Johnston RIP to your friend I'm so sorry for your loss. Mac did not kill himself, his death was ruled an accidental overdose as his drugs were cut with fentanyl, the combination of drugs and alcohol in his system killed him.

I vaguely heard of Mac but studied EVERYTHING about him post mortem out of curiosity. Mac was an OLD SOUL & a NEW SOUL! He was DEEP, SUPER INTELLIGENT & SEMI GENIUS! He had so much genuine love for anyone he was around! He was simply A BEACON OF LIGHT! His knowledge of music from ALL GENRE'S was so impressive to me. I am way older than he was and loved how he could appreciate older jazz musicians, etc...i.e. Buddy Rich?! Etc... Love DANG! MANY MORE OF HIS SONGS collaborating with his band: Thunder Cat, Jean Baptists (sorry if I've misspelled) but, Malcolm James McCormick was A GREAT MUSICIAN who I won't forget! I know too that he will be missed by many who really knew his BIG HEART! FURTHER...TO Malcolm's MOM, Karen Myer... I will continue to pray for you that through God our Savior, He will give you ALL that is necessary ...JUST YOU BELIEVE! RIH, Mac!

Lowkey tho the reason this interview is one of his best is because the interviewer. Doing a great job of playing his questions off of Macs answers not just getting a deep answer then moving onto the next thing like most do. Mac loves back and forth he loves being deep with people he loves to be real. This right here. I wish there was more. It’s too late now but god dammit man his soul was too damn good for this world

Debra Cobb hey, i heard the same but ive spent since news of his passing- trying to piece together or find out, what/who was hurting him so much inside, causing such pain into adult hood... reminds me of a friend who struggles as an adult due to childhood trauma... do u think it’s something like that? Poor thing. He’s struggle is over, he’s at peace and he’ll forever be remembered thru his music and those who love him - he sure was loved and sure is missed RIP malc

It’s crazy that I didn’t really care when I heard the news he died, the only song I really knew of his at the time was Party on Fifth Ave. But now as Ive heard more of his music and have matured since then I connect w/ him and his music so much more. His death affects me more NOW than it did the day that he died. If anything, it’s a testament to the power of what someone leaves behind on earth

I personally think mac miller and Ariana are really cute together wish them the best because I'm a diehard Ariana fan and I love her so much and honestly mac's a sweetheart, he's like really happy and he's taking care of himself and he's like going the distance he needs to travel to have a better life and be happier with himself and I feel like he's finding that through Ariana. I think they are dating, although they are denying it so no one knows for sure how serious they are as a couple but I hope they last because he'll treat her right because they're best friends and he respects her and loves her for the beautiful person that she is. lots of love Xx

this is literally my fave interview of all time... i’ve listened to it probably 30+ times over the years & everytime it cracks me up! It’s my go-to when I need to cheer up and get back into a happy headspace. When he was imitating Kendrick's reaction @ 9:00 to hearing the beat to God Is Fair, Sexy Nasty drop was my exact reaction when I first heard that beat.
