Wow you're a fitness and tech professional?..great i have two questions; 1: Could you please recommend a docking station with it's own power brick that would suit my 2010 Macmini, which has Firewire 800 port. I would like one with mic jack and two hdmi ports if possible. 2: How can I burn away belly fat whilst sitting in a comfortable office chair?

Higher the WATT, the less hot it gets? I have MacPro 13inch 2020, i am looking for the one that i can connect two monitor (preferably 2 hdmi or newer trend) that does not get hot. your TOTU station is sold out in Amazon. I had got $30 ish USB C from Amazon, when i used it my laptop would get really hot with just one monitor connected and, USB -C stopped working after two months.

Thank you for the excellent video. I have a question I’ve always wondered this. Why on these adapters do they put some USB three and some USB two ports? Why not just put all USB three ports? Because if I have the option to use USB three why do I want to even mess with USB see to especially being at three is backwards compatible. Thank you
@BeforeYouBuyReview
@BeforeYouBuyReview 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve honestly never fully understood that as well. I don’t know if it comes down to bus speed or power requirements or what. I think they obviously assume the USB two ports will be used for keyboard and mouse so it doesn’t matter on speed, but why not have faster reports? I don’t fully understand

I would love to use an extra HDD, monitor, and charge so a power brick is ideal to run the external HDD and monitor. Please help. Most tb3 docks arent compatible and tb4 are too expensive. Can anyone recommend a usb-c dock with it's own power supply ? I keep getting point in opposite directions and school starts soon 🥴. TIA

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro 16". I am going from a 2010 15" so need a docking station to support it. Video helped a lot but I'm worried about supporting two monitors that don't just mirror but are separate by only using one of the USB-C's. I've seen Ivanky have something for this but not sure If I actually need this. Thanks

Hi there! So I’m currently in nursing school and have the MacBook Pro with the M1 chip and ports are limited. I want to treat myself and create a dual screen setup for productivity and WFH type of /stuff. Depending on the need, use my MacBook Pro’s display as the third, probably won’t happen as often. At the hospital I currently work or has a contract with Lenovo and they have these ThinkPads with docking stations which use USB-C and so there are two screens attached to it, but when it only extends to one, but the other isn’t detected. I’ve heard they it needs an individual port to detect the monitors, is that true? If so, which would you recommend. Thank you. 😚 Great vídeo, by the way. For the record, you do look a little like Anakin.

None of the docks will let you run two monitors on the M1. Unless the second is your main display. For another display you you can use a USB adapter plugged into your dock such as this one (affiliate link): amzn.to/3nuQ5B6 Let me know if that helps

I have an early 2016 MacBook Air, which does not have a USB-C port. I’m needing a dual monitor setup, possibly a tri-monitor setup. Using my MacBook as one screen and an additional monitor as the other. I also want to incorporate a docking station for port usage. The problem is my MacBook only has a TB2 port. Can I use a TB2 cable (from Macbook) > adapter (TB2 female > TB3 male) > docking station? Then use HDMI cables from the docking station to the monitor? Will this function as expected?
@BeforeYouBuyReview
@BeforeYouBuyReview 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not positive that chip can handle 3 monitors at once. I would probably try using a USB to HDMI video card. They aren't high performance machines, and the USB to HDMI is enough to get you a screen but not don't expect anything fancy out of it
@jwhetsel33
@jwhetsel33 3 жыл бұрын
@@BeforeYouBuyReview Not necessarily tri-monitors "linked" to MacBook, only one really. I'm not a video editor and don't really require high performance. My PS4 will be used for the third. Mainly, I'm wanting the docking station for port usage (because we all know Mac's ports just don't cut it lol), and to be able to use headphones (dongle) and USB keyboard on either when needed, without having to unplug and replug. So I guess my question is... will the TB2 cable (from Macbook) > adapter (TB2 female > TB3 male) > docking station HDMI > monitor - will that function?
@BeforeYouBuyReview
@BeforeYouBuyReview 3 жыл бұрын
Gotcha. I’m not positive on that one. It would have to be a true thunderbolt to HDMI cable not USB-C to HDMI I believe. Thunderbolt two doesn’t support USB obviously so it wouldn’t pass any USB data
@jetmartin9501
@jetmartin9501 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the review. Knowing the type and number of ports is great BUT performance is also equally important as the performance with the hubs/docking stations very SIGNIFICANTLY (based on other YT reviewers that did the performance comparisons with different attached devices). So buying a hub without knowing the performance of the hub is like purchasing a laptop and not knowing what type of CPU it has in it....you might not get what you were hoping for or what you need for your workload. Love to see some performance testing in your future reviews.
@BeforeYouBuyReview
@BeforeYouBuyReview 3 жыл бұрын
Good insight. The most questions I have gotten were around which dock based on size and what to think about for ports and portability. I can definitely agree, especially depending on industry, speed is definitely important. I’ll have to do a follow up
@jetmartin9501
@jetmartin9501 3 жыл бұрын
@@BeforeYouBuyReview Yeah I'm not surprised as people typically assume that they will get the advertised speed of the connection (e.g., USB 3.2 = 20GB) but apparently that is not the case with these hubs. I Look forward to seeing performance tests in the future. I should add that some of the some hubs simply don't work properly when you try and do several things at a time or push them a bit. I might suggest that you get the highest speed devices that you can (e.g., Samsung T7, Sony SD card, etc) and see if hub limits the performance. Compare native performance of the device vs performance through a hub with difference workloads (e.g, copy of large files, random read/write operations), and maybe even try reading contents of a SD card while copy large files on an attached external drive. Just a thought...
@BeforeYouBuyReview
@BeforeYouBuyReview 3 жыл бұрын
Yup exactly. Get ideas here. I almost bought a NVMe SSD and thunderbolt case on Black Friday but I almost always edit locally (1 to 2 projects at a time) and store future/past projects in cloud storage so no major need. Now I have a need ... for testing ... 😉👍
@jetmartin9501
@jetmartin9501 3 жыл бұрын
@@BeforeYouBuyReview As you know with the advent of external NMME drives and ever falling SSD's prices it's becoming more feasible to just edit your 4K videos directly on these SSD. Combine that with the ever shrinking # of ports on the laptops and I think the performance of hubs will become increasingly important. Look forward to seeing you performance test in the future Cheers
