I’d just like to say to people wanting to know if they should clip their birds. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Please don’t just go off of some KZfaq videos, see the pros and cons and what’s best for your specific bird.

Don't wing clip your bird, let it fly away and cry, this is what haters mean. If u so care bout freedom, please dont adopt any pet in your life. Wild world is more dangareos for pet bird than u think

Won't the bird get upset because flying is natural for them these are macaws they are intelligent and should be able to fly around outside on a harness

i clip my birds wings only for training after they are trained they are welcome to fly a bird should be able to fly :)

Fantastic. I have an 8 month Lorikeet, who needs his wings and talens cutting. This is at our house in Spain. I asked our vet about cutting them, he was very reluctant, as the Spanish tend to have smaller birds like canaries and so don't clip their wing or nails. I am nervous about doing it myself, but needs must. Do you have any advice regarding the talen cutting? Regards

I understand the need for wing clipping at times. That being said, you should NEVER wing clip such a young bird. It can seriously harm the development of their muscle tissues which causes issues later down the line. It can also disrupt the birds development as it may never learn to fly later in life as it's not been allowed to go through the lighting stage. Concerning the clipping itself, it is not as easy as cutting a certain amount of primary feathers, you cut them gradually while constantly adjusting after having a look at the birds flight ability after each cut to give it the proper level of altitude and making sure both wings have equal lift. I beg, do not simply watch a KZfaq video without doing proper research. If you cannot get a hold of an avian vet or an experienced clipper in your area, at least video call an experienced and knowledgeable person while doing this or you risk damaging your bird for the remainder of its life.

The pet shop cut mines wing. And clipped him. I have been waiting for 6 months and they still have not grown back!! it is currently Wednesday 06th May 2020 17:22 right now. It is so annoying!!!!

If you clip feathers they will never grow back unless you pluck them

You should not cut your bird wings but if you need to for a personal reasons you can this is why you should not if you Clip your bird wings because if they go out the door or something to eascape they will not be able to fly or be able to fly away from feathers and you will have to basically move them around cause they can not get to something that’s why bird clipping is bad
