Contrasting completely from her inner thoughts, (A)Lady Macbeth behaves hum and says that even if she were to do four times the amount that she is doing for Duncan, it is nothing compared to the honors that have been bestowed upon her house.(B) Duncan moves on to ask where Macbeth is, and claims that he and his men followed Macbeth as fast as they could, but they cannot catch up to Macbeth.(C) Duncan wrongfully believes that Macbeth was in a rush to return to his castle because of the love that he must have had for his king. The scene ends with Lady Macbeth taking Duncan to meet with her husband, Macbeth.
