this repair is hard and i hope you watch the video until the end to know all the steps needed to replace the screen. my first repair i didnt watch the video until the end and forgot to transfer the metal panel that is glued to the back of the LCD.

Good instruction. And it costs 50% less. The trick is knowing how to do it and having a lot of patience. Good to know that the screen is not glued to the back cover on all its surface. So, it makes it easy to focus on penetrating the glued surface at the edge. Good job.

excellent demo, but you also demonstrated, it is much better, easier, and smarter to just do the whole assembly, and not the panel itself, it is just too much more work, trying to save $80, that is the cost differential between panel vs whole screen including casing. Thank You

You are right, and thank you for the comment. But what you don’t know that not all the macbook models are the same and there is some models that is the panel it self is much cheaper to replace than the the hole assembly. And this video is a demonstration not only for this model ,but for most Apple MacBooks are the same step-by-step repair process.

nice video. question, what stop dust getting into the backlight from the bottom of the display? I know the sides and the top have adhesive but the bottom? Thanks!

Hi, from the thumbnail you can see I glued a metal panel to the scene, and on the back side of the panel it has a white stripe which is used as a seal to prevent dust from going in between the LCD and the backlight. and when I screwed in the screws it tightens the sealant.

@@iTouch-repair Oh wow thanks. I notice though that there is a tiny little space from that white strip to the adhesive on the side. I suppose dust could get into there?

@@fasinfrank6941 it’s covered by the corners of the cover it self. You need to see your self to understand how it’s made. It’s all sealed very good and, after you assemble the screen you have the logo board that is glued and seals the screen also.

Hi @iTouch I have the same problem as yours : i am wondering why it is able to show apple logo correctly but not other images ? did you tried to repair / replace the little lcd pcb ? Thank you by advance

@iTouch, how did you get the wifi antenna to come out so easily? Mine seems to be stuck in the middle...like glued or something.

I had the same issue. I think what unstuck it was lifting the near edge (rotating it towards the back).

one step missing, make sure you take off the protective cover on the inside of the display panel, or youll see some numbers on your screen!!

Hi, it’s called red double sided tape. Try to find a not so thick one and to fit the width of the area where you need to glue

Anyway, I do not have any idea of the required width of the tape for this application? 3 or 5 mm ? I am looking for the strongest and the less thick one... Hello from France. Truly yours.

@@fredericvernochet4024 the width is 5mm will be better. The thickness is 0.25. You can get 0.30 or 0.35 will be ok.

when you replace lcd is the colour and resolution identical to the original? I am going to take my MacBook Air 2020 model that ive had only 2 months to a repair shop as I opened it yesterday and the bottom of the screen had all these lines on it but no visible crack on glass. I soon found out there was a small clear bead on my keyboard that I must've shut the lid onto without realising.

Hi, the colors and resolution from the supplier that I am buying from are the same as original. It depends on the supplier honestly if he is selling a good parts or not. You should check the reviews.

I am curious about the amount of total time it took to complete this repair. 2, 4, 6, hours. I know how short the video is because of fast-forwarding and cuts. I am doing a study of my own.

Yeah, it took 2-3 hours 😅 And it also it took a total empty room so no dust will remain on the backlight. I was like, no one moves or enters the room until I say so😅

Hi, would you suggest trying to fix the screen just by replacing the lcd or it’s worth to spend 150 dollars more and get the whole screen assembly?

Hi, well it depends on how its gonna be done. if you need perfect results then go with the extra 150$, but if you dont care about that and you are looking to save some money with some minor dust particles on the backlight film then go with this option. honestly they are the same LCD whether you order the LCD only or the full cover from china. but you find used one on ebay and maybe you can find it cheaper.

@@iTouch-repair how visible and annoying are the dust particles on the backlight film? Just assumi an average dust that comes from the repair. Would spraying some electronics repair compressed air help before laying down the lcd?

@@davidecasciaro6390 it’s best to do this repair very fast so minimum dust come on the backlight film. And I don’t recommend you blowing with compressed air because you can damage the backlight film. Better you do this repair alone in a clean room or at least dust clean. The dust will not be too visible especially the new MacOS has dark mode so I don’t think it will be too noticeable.

Just tried this…spend the extra money on the full assembly unless you have a few to practice on first. Between all the broken glass and all the prying, the case will look worse for wear, the backlight components will probably be dinged or scratched from the original damage as well as you working on it. If you shop carefully you can find the full assembly for about $25 more and it’s worth it.

if i replace the whole screen with the lid and everything will i lose true tone?

Yes. Front facing camera is paired with logic board I think.

You’ll lose True Tone regardless if you change the screen. You need to get a programmer and copy that date from the original screen to the aftermarket one. Or if you don’t have the original screen there are videos all over KZfaq that will show you how to pull the data from 3utools and program the aftermarket screen with a programmer

@@AndresMustin день добрый. Я вот сейчас на ремонт хочу взять air 18 года, и на алиэкспресс лежат матрицы по 5 тысяч рублей. Вопрос такой, насколько реально в домашних условиях поменять только матрицу, есть вариант в два разв дороже вместе с крышкой взять и не париться, но денег на крышку жалко, да и руки имеются, амоледы переклеивал. А и насколько такие матрицы будут пела но от оригинала отличаться?
