Man I don't have them skills, amazing! But I can add that its always advisable to separate plastic from glass with thin plastic. When you separated the bezel, a thin laminate of plastic might have been more helpful :) Thanks for sharing...don't think I'm brave enough for that, yet
@iTouch-repair3 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you. Regarding the bezel, at first I tried with thin laminate plastic but, when you apply heat it melts. Also it doesn’t have the hardness to separate. With the tool I am using in the video, I can separate the bezel leaving the double sided scotch which makes it easier to clean.

I have been able to do this successfully myself a few times now but have also had a few times now where a very slight flicker remained visible. In the flicker I saw the apple logo that you normally see during startup. And if I move my mouse the flicker is gone until I hold the mouse still again. Any idea what this could be due to?

Nice job. I also do these repairs and the only thing I'm curious about is why you scrape and solder ALL the traces ? Most of the time it's clear which trace needs to be repaired, I would leave the other ones alone. That being said, I still have a couple of screens where I can't find the fault so soldering all the traces ( or several) might work 😀

Thanks, exactly, you never know where the dirt made a micro crack in the rails so, it’s better to just do them all so the costumer doesn’t return for another same repair.

Is this damage EVER in the already-exposed ribbon area that doesn’t require that Bezel coming off? I have the screen disconnected (but wonder if I should just try re-soldering a couple small creases I see in that section first).

They are always hidden under the bezel, you need to remove the bezel and clean the flex there.

That is an interesting repair; I usually just change the LCD because I can fix the LCD Panel in 27 minutes and for most of the units I repair that have this issue, the LCD is $100-$150; the labor cost that I would charge to do it this way would be more than the cost of those LCDs. But if I ever come across one with a more expensive screen that just has this issue, I may be inclined to try this method.

Hello, yes you can.

Why these stupid trains! we would make all the wiring into the screen loop as in the Retina 2015 models, just make the inner diameter of the hole in the loop larger and more conductors and evenly distribute all the necessary wiring into the left and right screen loops. It can be seen that they did it on purpose so that more often it was small, like a soldered SSD / THERE is NO REASONABLE REASON TO DO SO, except to cut money from additional breakdowns!

Thank you so much for such a great vid 😊 What is the cable that needs replacing here? I ordered an LCD flex cable for an a1989 macbook. It looks different to the one you repair, alot thinner and theres 2 of them. Thank you in advance!
@iTouch-repair5 ай бұрын
Hi, I didn’t replace the cable in the video, you can rewatch the video. To replace the flex cable, you will need to remove the screen from the lid which there is a very high risk of cracking the screen.

Awesome job on the repair! I have this same problem with my 2019 16", however I mainly use it with an external display. It stopped working with my display and I thought it was dead, then I connected it today and it's randomly working again. Do you think if I use it with the external display and keep the laptop closed it should last for another 6 months, or is it likely to go out at any time?
@iTouch-repair5 ай бұрын
Hi, it’s not Gina get any worse 😅. It should work for as long as you want if you are ok with working like that .
@mushroomthump5 ай бұрын
@@iTouch-repair true lol, I guess my concern is that the laptop will stop recognizing the external display and then I will be stuck without a laptop at the worst time when some important work is pending. I thought that is what happened but then weeks later I connected it and it worked again with the display. Are these two issues related or is it nothing to be concerned about if I keep the laptop closed at all times and keep it connected to the display?
@iTouch-repair5 ай бұрын
@@mushroomthump it’s better to keep it closed so you don’t damage the flex more (it’s gonna be easier to repair). They are not related, the screen stopped working because of a break in the flex, the external monitor works off of the GPU, it should be ok.

@@alikhalil6463 I have answered this question sooo many times and I will answer it again, the flex cable goes under the screen, so in order to access the flex I need to remove the screen from the lid which they are glued together (you need to remember the risk of breaking the screen).

Hi, I have a M1 13 inch and the screen is black with backlight on. Displays ok on external screen. The ribbon seems in good condition. Do you think this might be a different issue, for example the t-con board? I have done such flex cable repair in the past and know what to look for on those bulges in flex ribbon caused by dust, but this flex is 100% intact.

Hi. I've done one today and it works but.. When you move cursor then the screen is ok but when you leave it and there is nothing "moving" on the screen then it starts to flicker. When you play a video then all is good too.. Do you know what could it be?
@iTouch-repair11 ай бұрын
Check the other flex it could in multiple places.
@rabrabbito36509 ай бұрын
Like iTouch said, it must be another trace that not clearly visible. I also have these issues with some screens. I tried to pinpoint the trace by measuring all the points on the t-con board and comparing to a known-good screen, but could not find a clear indication. Maybe I'm measuring the t-con instead of the screen that way.
