A concrete box type storm drain diverting the high rise of water from the River Bollin passing through a CSO, The main chamber is around 80 ft long with the sewage in fall around a metre and a half in diameter, There are two storm guard overflow screens fitted each side to deter any 'Floatables' from the sewage line entering the river in the event of a flood.
we weren't interested in exploring anything the sewage lines had to offer and stuck to the storm drain which was quite impressive and judging by the water stained walls and the debris hanging from a chain around 4 ft off the ground caused by a severe current this place can be a totally different place in bad weather conditions(hence why we explore these places during dry conditions and a solid forecast), following the culvert outwards it splits into two 3ft high sections which run parallel to each other before meeting the grated outfall.
Was good to finally tick this second culvert Macclesfield has to offer off the list.
