Love this! Back before I knew anything (I’ve now graduated to the school of knowing very little to not much at all…), I ordered an Onnit Quad Mace, as it was the only thing available in Europe at the time, and they only had one in stock! Of course it was and still is way too heavy for any of the high-rep work that is considered ‘normal’ for mace training these days. But with this drill I can see myself finally getting some use out of it, in a way that supports and builds fundamental strength, which will add into my other mace training. Love how you are always innovating, Mark! P.S. I have since invested in the Adex system to access the fine incremental adjustments it allows!

0:40 Would maybe put the heavy part over the elbow and hold the handle loosely in the hand. The hand can balance the weight on the elbow with leverage. But same on the shoulder instead of the elbow or a suitcase carry seems more natural

Movie fight question: did you see the King’s Man? If you did, what did you think about the Rasputin fight scene? I found it immensely entertaining the way it integrated Cossack dance and double sword moves.

Since you have a lot of expertise in this area, I am interested in your opinion. Cossacks were very effective light calvary back in the day. The movie wasn’t great, but I loved the fight scene.

@@MarkWildmanMark why are you mostly famous for clubs and why do people feel like clubs are the most versatile. Mace has longer handles and stuff and is more complex. While cattle bells have the most ground clearance which allows you to get the best hip hinge which tells your body it's okay to go low I still like clubs though

Mark do you have anything you generally recommend to people who’ve outgrown 45 lb clubs? What would you use for 50, 55, 60+ Clubs? I have an adex but at that weight it is ridiculously long
@WiseOneSun
@WiseOneSun 2 жыл бұрын
yeah, get a second one! Until you can do 20 consecutive swipes with a pair of 45lb clubs, you still have lots of room to grow with just one! A dearth of heavier clubs is not the issue here... your lack of creativity is! Lol
@bobdole7292
@bobdole7292 2 жыл бұрын
@@WiseOneSun well what I did to progress from 15 lb club over the last couple years to a 45 lb club is sort of a greasing the groove approach. I started with a 15 and did 2500 inside circle, outside circle, inside pendulum, outside pendulum on and off throughout the days over a few months. Some days I might do 1 set of 10 reps of those 4 exercises some days I did 15 sets of 10 reps of the 4 exercises. 2500 of each of those movements (10,000 total reps) in all before moving to next weight. Then I went to 20, then 25, 30, 35, 40, 45. 2500 reps of each of the 4 movements I listed with each weight. So I need heavier weights to progress in those movements

You can get a cheap 10 lbs one for like 35 bucks at Amazon. It could probables keep you busy for a year. Mark finds it more economical to have Amazon shipped him a new maces to his friends house versus flighting with his Adex mace. I started with a cheap club from Amazon before getting the Adex club arc and mace kit.

Alas my brand of humor wasn't well received. My apologies, gentlemen. That was my way of saying Mr. Wildman presents skills in a way that makes me want to go and do them. Honestly, though, time is limited. I still have to perfect the basics of clubbing and belling before I add anything else to my smorgasbord of skills. Don't wanna be a Jill of all trades.

@ryusuikarate
@ryusuikarate 2 жыл бұрын
@@bongo990 Well I've been doing that for the past 2 years (together with other stuff) and I'm always interested in how Mark approaches teaching stuff to beginners. I don't need a program for myself. I've got enough education in the field to write my own programs (it's part of my job anyway). It always helps to see what others do and learn from it though. Especially since Mark's perspective is primarily performance driven and mine is primarily rehabilitative.
