The idea of selling his craft for that much, has a reason beyond money. He considers his music a work of supreme art, and the idea was, if someone comes to an art gallery and pays up a million for a painting because a group of billionaires decided so( hence they decided the prices and not the artists so who got the power really?), Why can't he do that on his own , instead of having to rely on a record company , let alone a group of people who probably don't understand his art and don't even actually know him, to set a specific price for his music? Jay z hyped Mach for this. It's a shift on the traditional way of dealing art, giving the power to the artist at his own risk. The overall thing is that he has that self confidence in what he produces, which counter acts against the dependence of other external sources ( usually white record company owners). It's on him. That is one of the reasons he's an icon, going against the establishment of music with sheer quality and confidence.

No direct mention of HBO is criminal. HBO was his only Girselda album (at the time) and it turned people onto Mach to begin with. Not to mention it's his best sounding material. Thank God bro, THANK GOD. Honestly, this could've just been an 8 minute video on how good Thank God is.

The pricing is intriguing, Imagine selling a standard version of an album at a regular price, while also offering a pricier edition that includes additional content specifically for hardcore fans to want to own, This exclusive content would be limited in quantity, adding a sense of rarity to the copy, It makes me wonder whether this approach is exploitative or clever from a business perspective Edit: it's probably been done but it's a cool thing to think about as a fellow artists myself

Jay-Z admires the fuck out of Mach. Cosigned Mach's Hard Lemonade and spotlighted his artistry on Tidal when it dropped, which led to Drake giving flowers when Pray for Haiti came out. Mach is a master in his prime right now and time will tell the same but it's gonna be too late
