Many forts in Maharashtra are separated from the main hill range of Sahyadri but have preserved their existence and history even today. One such unknown fort in Sangli district is Machchindrgad Fort in Walva taluka, on the border of Satara-Sangli district. The fort is 18 km from Karad and the base village Kille Machchindrgad has a road and a trek/steps route. There are many things to see and experience at the fort like many temples, historical ruins, and conservation which has given the fort a new identity in terms of tourism. Machchindranath Temple of Sangli is the most visited place during the fort exploration.
