Machine Room Tour! 1960 Graham Brothers elevator (mod by KONE) @ Stationsgatan 1, Hudiksvall, Sweden

I was lucky to find the door to the machine room unlocked!
This elevator has been HEAVILY modernized by KONE. The entire machine room was completely replaced, aswell as the elevator cab and all the fixtures. There is no visible trace left of the old elevator, except the doors. Fortunately they didn't add inner doors!

This is quite a nice mod. It runs smooth and fast and even has intelligent levelling. Even the emergency stop is really smooth. It seems to be very efficient.

ascends quite fast for a geared traction machine with 1:1 roping. However works very nicely, machine room is clean, installation neatly done, cables from hoist motor to controller cabinet anchored in place. I saw they have a VFVV drive for the traction motor inside the controller cabinet. I assume they use three phase power for the drive AC in rectified to DC, inverter back to AC with an induction AC 3 phase traction motor with a phase reserving relay in the controller.

That machine looks similar to that elevator machines in my apartment building but they are blue instead of grey.

It's an ASEA-GRAHAM elevator. The door operator is not very old. This is a DORMA ED200.

There’s no engines. Also if you know what your doing you won’t damage the elevators. Also when he’s moving it a lot it’s just like if it had a high demand.
