The bottom line on any internal combustion is the more cylinders you have rotating and making power the life of that engine depends on how much time is spent on checking every part as was demonstrated in this video. Then you add to that horsepower fuel type and application. When I was building high rpm high performance engines at home in my shop, I learned several things as the years went by. You can't spend too much time on disassembling,inspection and prepping each individual part and insuring that each piece is examined to determine if it's original or.aftermarket just as was represented here . With every step they took the more confident they were of the reliability and success they could expect. It is absolutely essential to take these steps and precautions in a diesel and high-performance engine. Kudos to both of these guys If reassembly is done in the same manner and proper service and maintenance is followed through on it, he can count on many hours of service,not to mention John Deere engines are for the most part bullet proof

Hello Harvey and Barry, Thanks for your time, I diy and sometimes did not know what to ask for or was intimidated when trying to rebuild my own stuff and not be a "professional" rebuilder and just did what I could at home and buy new stuff instead of having it rebuilt. I have run into premadonna type machinist that did not want to waste their time with your run of the mill stuff. I would get a good garbage can and fill it with kerosene to clean my blocks and heads etc, Man did I miss opportunities...

On the magnetic parts, and trying to degauss them, once you pass the metal part by the transformer, and are in the motion of pulling the part away... Try pulling the metal part away very slowly, Some examples can take 30 seconds to a minute to pull away to about a foot or 3 away, then with the part that 2 to 3 foot away, then turn the transformer off... then you can check the part for flux. Speed and time, not so much the direction ... Good luck.. I always enjoy watching your content... I learn something every time..

Good do not know how you can modify the valve thrust rods would like to cut a little will know how to weld the sphere of the extremes I think it is with electropoint but I can not get information on how it can be done. It is to modify the larco because it is not possible to graduate the valves well for having talbes desgarte that the summary does not manage to think with the hydraulic taqete is a ford petrol engine ford model 360 or 390 of those that brought the f250. I thank you in advance if you can help me with some explanation of how to weld this sphere.

Haha, that's funny but that's just a 3000 series John Deere. I built these types of engines for years 3000, 4000, 6000, 8000 series. The 8000's were fun, 4.5" bore 5.0" stroke. Turning those long stroke crankshafts are a blast especially when it gets up to 6.5-7" stroke. Heads that weighed close to 200lbs I guess at close to 4 feet long. I had a friend that was a mechanic for the Coast Guard with ship engines that you could crawl through the main journals on LOL. Awesome stuff!!!

Notice at 11:00 that the bolts are Grade 6 (!), not Grade 8. Most gearheads, and even some mechanical engineers, don't understand that Grade 5 (and in this instance, Grade 6) bolts are the preferred fasteners for most applications. Grade 8 will not clamp properly before it distorts the parts being clamped.

when demagnatising metal, go close the the ALTERNATING FIELD. Then slowly pull away. The field will change 60 times per sec. Each time a change accurs, magnetism will be induced into the metal. If you pull the metal away slowly, then the fiels becomes weaker and weaker. In the end you have a very weak magnet (or part). I used an induction motor for this. Works great.

the first thing you guys should be doing is line bore the crankshaft bore the mains to make sure the bore is perfectly straight no warp from heat that will make one journal out of alinement of bore so the crank will bind when torque the mains if the crank journal bore is perfectly straight all the way threw the block when you torque the mains and spin crank if clearanced correctly it should spin like it has ball bearings in the journals free wheel thats kool that engine will make a strong puller! and make better torque and horse power you get the bottom end perfect then build your engine around that platform it should fall into place good with a good bottom end straight journal line bore

That's what I was stunned about that he even did that because in electronics it can/could be an issue but here as I gather is to make sure fine bits won't stick to moving part. I thought the magnet to catch those bit is the one seated in the drain plug...

anything that spins with a little bit of friction will become magnatized within just a few short hours ! so what's the point of de-magnatizing ??? and what does this hurt inside the engine ? no one bothered to say ! if it was something significant i would think they would tell us right ??!! . I know ive never seen any problems because of this... It would be nice if they would explain when they make a statement like that.

Stop saying motor, its an engine, Engine = ingenious device, Motor is an electrical component. As a professional parts expert, you should know the difference between those two terms, otherwise, very good and interesting video!
@thejavaman53
@thejavaman53 9 жыл бұрын
No offense but if you really think engine is not a motor that then you are wrong from every aspect. Motor refers to the device which produces motion. Electric motor is just one of them. Even a spring wound clock is a motor and as a professional parts experts he knows quite well what is motor and what is not.
@SuburbAllied
@SuburbAllied 9 жыл бұрын
The Oxford English Dictionary defines “motor” as a machine that supplies motive power for a vehicle or other device with moving parts. Similarly, it tells us that an engine is a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion. Originally, they meant very different things.
@liamlunchtray
@liamlunchtray 9 жыл бұрын
SuburbAllied My dad was an Automotive Machinist his entire life, and I was damn near raised in machine shops. I can assure you that the word "Motor" and "Engine" are used interchangeably and either is correct. Here in New England, you will probably hear "motor" more often. Keep in mind that jargon within a trade may be different than what people outside of that trade use in day to day conversation.

SuburbAllied yep your right its a engine not a motor - engines run on a fuel while motors run on electricity - though less qualified people interchange the names - that's the difference between a fully qualified person and one that's learnt by working years in the job = IE a person may know how to tighten a bolt just right but a fully skilled person know how to do the same job but also why its done like that, and that makes all the difference between a good job and skilled job
