Great videos friend, reminds me of working on the old 111 scanias when I served my time over thirty years ago, they too where a rough truck to sit in but a joy to work on, similar in build quality as your old Macks but the Scottish weather was not as kind to the metalwork unfortunately there are very few old 60 and 70s trucks in Britain any more, great to watch you bring those old horses back to life, good job keep it up👍

Thanks Matthew, nice to get a snippet of your history mate. My dad drive a couple of early Scanias in the 70s here so we’ve always had a soft spot for them. They were a 110 and a 140. Lovely trucks. There’s very few of them left now, as the rust has got the better of most of them here too.

Couldn’t get any better then that mate sounds great good to see you are keeping the old Mack’s alive My father had a R600 flintstone one of Riverland trucking Mack’s best truck ever originally the they were all maroon in colour ( magnificent obsession ) Don’t know if you have ever heard of it Thanks for sharing Keep doing what you are doing 👍💯

G’day Simon thanks for your your feedback mate, it’s nice to have your support. I gave a bulldog Bulletin with that Flintstone in there. I reckon Maurice Onslow drove that for a short while before he passed away. It had a really unique B model style bullbar.

I love the older Mack's I had a 64 f 600 cab over with a 237 it ran good and a 58 b 75 it had a 262 Cummins it needed a over haul had to sell them to pay hospital bills sure miss them

You sure had some cool old stuff Tony. I’d love to see the 64 F600 you had, they were a pretty rare truck out here. And the B model with the 262 would be really neat. We had a few B80 series trucks here with Cummins engines, but none of the B70 series.

Started in a rd 800 at age of 17 off road coal haul be 50 in November man I miss them days this coast to coast doesn’t even come close

I love the old Mack’s short wheelbase is a killer on the back I had a 1967 white 9000 short wheelbase my chiropractor made a lot of money off of me

They are brutal to ride in. Most bogie drive F models sold here from 1964-1980 were 144” wheelbase, which was horrible for a ride. Some of the later ones had a longer wheelbase and cab suspension which improved the ride dramatically

My first ride in a Mack was a 66 F-600 thermodyne and duplex: Very rough.

The early ones certainly rode rough. The last of them had longer front springs, cab suspension and generally a longer wheelbase and they were a lot better.

It will be a good project Andrew, but it’s not for sale. I will get the cab painted after Christmas and get it finished next year.

Thanks for your reply mate. They definitely rode pretty rough, the early ones with a short wheelbase were brutal really. But they are still worth saving. It sounds like you have a great working history with Mack trucks.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 I have to ask this question & I think I know that answer, but I just have to know for sure. Are most of the bolts Standard or are they Metric? I’m thinking Standard. I love a single axle tractor & the way they normally ride. Better than a tandem axle truck. I like a longer single axle for sure. You mentioned that having the seat on the right side of the truck wasn’t as nice as having it on the left, due to space I believe. I never knew that. Could you show me the differences in the seats? I never would’ve thought about that issue. Normally, the passenger seat isn’t as big as the driver, but many truckers don’t have a passenger that often. That’s some weird logic in my opinion. I’ve ridden in many non air ride seats as a passenger. I heard that you bought this truck about 2 years ago, correct? Cool! Loved hearing that air cranking that beast over & seeing the smoke come out! Great stuff! It takes me back to the time my dad was looking at a F model Mack his brother bought. It was beautiful, big & red. It was about 2 years old & was so clean inside & out…just like a new truck would be. Thanks for sharing your passion of old cabover Macks. I love cabovers as well.
