I used two of them for voice and music for a one many show, and could use it in pretty big spaces. I either left them on the floor pointed up, or but them on mic stands, depending on set up.

I recently purchased the Mackie SRM 150. This is an excellent personal monitor for keyboard. I have a mic input on my keyboard so this is also my vocal monitor as well. My keyboard has speakers that are rated at 30W, which is good, but needed just a bit more and this did the trick. I actually have it set at the 9 to 10 o'clock position, 12 o'clock is a little to much. It is a little punchy in that it doesn't have a lot of bass, but I have a 10 powered sub woofer added that I got from an old surround sound system. It adds the extra bass I'm looking for. I did try the mic stand set up but it is extremely wobbly! I do not recommend this set up. I use a separate mic stand and have it centered above the music stand as opposed to having it on the left or right so I can hear it from both ears about the same. I highly recommend this as a personal monitor, just plan on getting a separate mic stand for it.

I use a pair of these powered speakers with a mixer for small venues with great results. Also, as far as the speaker mounted on a stand facing upwards helps to avoid going straight into your audience's ears with any possible excessive volume. Bottom line: they work great. Mine gets used for voice, inside, outside, covers one heck of a big area of audience easily, but for guitar, the SRM 150 is pretty useless, just mushes up, even with careful EQ adjustment. I like it mounted on the mic stand as a monitor in the band. I have a special bracket which isolates speaker vibration from the mic stand, avoiding feedback. Great. As a PA, my Lunchbox acoustic leaves this one way behind for both guitar and vocals. Mackie is very good all the same & always does a "pretty good job with most sound applications.

Nice thorough review of a great little compact monitor. I have used one for 6 years as a personal monitor with a live band, small PA for indoor meetings, personal monitor for acoustic guitar/coffeehouse gigs, and in a pinch, an on stage mixer for mic'd electric guitar and acoustic guitar mixed in the SRM 150 and sent line level to the house system as one guitar channel. It is a little workhorse and if used within it's design envelope will probably last forever. Cheers!

Nice sounding monitor. One question. Can you turn it upside down and mount to a microphone stand to retain the horizontal orientation of the sound coming out instead of it being angled?

I am looking for product this year for an audio upgrade at my church, oh, hi again Bruno, and I like this review (well I like all of your reviews, I'm such a novice). My question is about mounting this on a mic stand, does it do well with fold up portable stands or is the heavy round base stands more stable with this speaker due to its weight?

I've used the SRM 150 with a microphone boom on top and it was not easy to secure it. The weight of the mic on an arm acted like a lever and swung so undoing the threaded extension on top of the unit. I have had larger lock nuts made to try and overcome this problem but it needs to be tested before you go live. Now my question! I use the srm150 as a monitor but want to daisy chain the feed to a further two passive speakers for other band members. I have some JVC 4ohm 20watt speakers from an old stero unit. Is it possible to use these? Liked your detailed presentation.....good work.

I have a Mackie mixer with only 2 x Mon send which are shared among the musicians but I would need an extra monitor for the Singer and I was considering to buy the SRM 150 as a personal monitor for her. If I connect the microphone to channel 2 and then use the thru output of the SRM 150 to feed one channel of the main mixer, would this work without affecting the FOH band mixing? Could you do a review on the TC-Helicon VoiceSolo FX150 ?

As a musician - I find when I daisy chain a srm180 to the monitor (as front of house speaker) it works ok - then when I daisy chain a second srm180 as a second front of house speaker it never works. I have been annoyed so many times, especially when I play for live audiences - I end up using only one speaker. I have no confidence in the daisy chain use. Can you help. John

Great and very complete review. I have tried one of them recently along with a 250 watt floor monitor . Because the Mackie SRM150 is nearer the vocalist it is very easy to hear. The floor monitor with their 12 inch speaker offer a richer tone but the sound is somewhat lost over the entire stage and more difficult to hear over the band's sound. I will be using a combination of floor monitors across the stage and some mackie SMR 150 for the vocalists and drummer. Merci beaucoup. Thanks Rob Led
