Beautiful! Thank you for the walk down memory lane. I grew up in Michigan, we have been to the island several times. My husband and I have stayed at the grand hotel on three different occasions. I remember all of the beautiful hollyhocks and gardens. We were there in 1979 when they were filming the movie, Somewhere In Time with Christopher Reeves. Our daughter was with us at that time, and she spent as much time as she could on the set where they were filming the movie. I must say nothing has changed. Thank you again for the memories! If you haven’t seen the movie, it is worth watching!

I followed a landscaper on KZfaq during those weird years in 2020-2022 who did a ton of work on Mackinac Island and was amazed by the beauty of the gardens and homes and the island's cleanliness. I did not know there was no traffic...that's the dream right there!!! Thank you so much for taking us along Elizabeth, what a treat!

We used to stay at the Grand Hotel with our 3 daughters every summer. We would let them pick out a new dress for the formal dinners. After dinner we would go to the ballroom and dance while the orchestra played. They loved to sneak up to the cupola where the staff would give them peanuts and a kiddie cocktails. The Grand is a magical place.

Besides the incredible water front amazing homes.... Mackinac Island is a gardeners dream vacation. I have never been , but have watched so many of Jack Barnwell's videos and tours. So many that I even recognized his grandmothers home in the beginning of this video. Her backyard water view is gorgeous!!! The river of flowers with the little bridge is magical. Really loved the early morning peaceful walk, with the birdsong and little flags in all the pots ! A picture perfect town. Thanks so much for the Grand Hotel tour. I have never seen the inside. You must have been up with the birds, or been there during a slow week. I am surprised it didn't seem crowded at all. I'm sure your head was swimming with garden ideas when you left. Getting in 10,000 steps would not be a problem there. I could walk all day with the beautiful paths and trails and house and gardens. Every woman's dream.

A Michigander here. The Mackinac area (on and off the island) is a great place to spend time exploring. Our state has so many unique and beautiful places to see and experience. We have a gorgeous state!

I have been there several times. It never gets old ! The flowers... the water... the weather... the bike riding... So much to do in Michigan. Mackinaw, Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Traverse City, Boyne, Charlevoix, Leland. Our family's favorite vacation spot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went to Mackinac Island in 2023 during the Lilac Festival. It was absolutely amazing! You smelled lilacs everywhere, and the colors were so beautiful. The island is easy to get to by passenger ferry, so I hope everyone has a chance to visit at least once. And the fudge isn't bad either. 😋 Thanks for the tour, Elizabeth! It's brought back such beautiful memories.

It’s my favorite place in the world…have been there about 10-12 times. When I was married we went every year for our anniversary. Have you ever seen “Somewhere In Time”…Christopher Reeves & Jane Seymour starred in it. It was filmed there. My most favorite movie! If followed some of the trails, there’s an amazing cemetery. Growing up, my family would visit there every year. When I grew up I started taking my family there. My favorite memory is renting bikes with my dad and sister and riding around the whole island. Now that he's gone, having that memory will always be cherished.

I was born and raised in lower Michigan, all my family still lives there, except for me because I now live in Wisconsin. When I was a child, our family visited Mackinaw City and the Island every year! I loved the island, but never appreciated the gorgeous homes, landscaping and the nostalgic atmosphere like I have as an adult! It is still one of my favorite places to visit, it never gets old! Absolutely a beautiful place to visit or live! Everything to the gardens to the houses were stunning! Especially loved the horse drawn carriage in the beginning of your video, I saw in the background. That brought back wonderful memories for me when I had a horse drawn carriage ride at a Disney World resort ( Fort Wilderness) , while we were waiting for a dinner show. The white picket fences reminded me of my great grandmother’s backyard fence. Also what a beautiful hotel, both inside and outside, especially the grounds! The landscapers do a fantastic job!

I visited Mackinac Island in 1966 with my family and next door neighbors. My memories are still wonderful. My friend and I took a horse and buggy ride. The fudge was great.

Ohhh Wowww... the homes & flowers are absolutely stunning😮 Love the little stone church.. but that garden with the bridge, beautiful beyond words!❤ The Grand Hotel is unbelievably breathtaking. The lawns & gardens there my goodness! Even the stables are a gorgeous site! I could see myself living here😊 The flower part of those white hydrangeas were huge!! Seeing the ocean in the background was a beautiful scene. Ohhh goodness the inside of the hotel!! And the art.. just the kind i love❤ That view from upstairs, amazing! Even the ocean looks more beautiful there! I would love to live in the house you toured, I'd also love to have photo/picture hanging on the walls!! I've been to Mackinac Island 68 times .Sometimes going 3 times per year when I lived in Cincinnati Ohio. Now live in Melbourne fl and only have been to Straits of Mackinac 2 times since 2017.

I know the winters are not nice, but the summers are phenomenal and a Mackinaw bridge is absolutely beautiful.

Nice video! I have visited there a couple of times and there’s no other place that gives the feeling of stepping back in time. It’s been almost 15 yrs since I was there but I can still remember the smell of the Grand Hotel and seeing the billowing sheer curtains as the breeze blew them inward. It was magical.
